This is a book series (3 books) I read around 2010 but I think it was written in early 2000s.

We follow the story of two siblings of a lower caste in this city they live in. There is some talk about chosen people and promised land, and this city is known to be the last human settlement. The city is made up of circles, the innermost circle belonging to the highest caste and the outermost belonging to the lowest caste. Each caste has mandatory jobs, designated clothing of a certain colour, and can only marry with people from the same caste. I believe something happens to the family of our two protagonists, which has them try and convince people of their caste to fight back with the authority, and they end up losing and they leave the city. I think the second book was about their journey looking for a promised land beyond the mountains, lead by these two protagonists. I think there was some supernatural evil force following them but I'm not exactly sure. I remember the evil character's name was Mor. Third book might be about how they settle, but it's the one I remember the least of.

I know what you mean. I started the year by finally reading a YA dystopian around a society divided into different physical layers or tiers (The House of Power).
