I just finished The Enemy Within, the enemy being radicalised suburban Muslim youths, local right-wing extremists, and bent Aussie cops. TTake your pick! Journalist Tim Ayliffe knows his stuff. This is January 2020 JUST before Covid hit.

A story about an embalmer with a stunning singing voice, A Terrible Kindness is an exceptional debut novel by British author, Jo Browning Wroe. Published January 20th.5★s

The thing with Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels is that you can miss a few and still know what's going on. I have #s 25, 26 and 27 in my TBR pile, but I've just read #28, Game On: Tempting Twenty-Eight, and it was entertaining, as always.4★s

Midnight in Everwood by M.A. KuzniarMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Todd Boyce's voice is probably not my favourite for audio books, a bit breathy and some dodgy pronunciations, but Aussie author Richard Anderson's second novel, Retribution is still a 5 ★ read.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My review of
The Replacement Wife by Darby Kane, an intriguing premise that didn't quite work for me.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

A book that makes you laugh and cry: sometimes that's exactly what you need, and British author Beth Miller's fifth novel, The Woman Who Came Back to Life certainly flushed out my tear ducts a few times. This one is published 5th January '22: have the tissues ready.

I've only previously read the 13th book in Barry Maitland's Brock and Kolla series, and now the 14th, The Russian Wife, but I do plan to go back to #1. Excellent crime fiction from a master of the genre.5★s for this one.

It is getting toward the end of the reading year, I have had a fantastic time revisiting sci-fi, here is the most recent one I finished. A very odd sort of robot world / dystopia concept.

I read Unforgiven by AA Sarah Barrie last week - a four star read.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Puma Years by Laura Coleman was nominated in the GR Choice Awards for 2021 (memoir) and I can see why. I was enthralled, from the stunning cover-art right through till the end. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Silent Conversation by Caro Ramsay https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
I totally loved the e-book version of Beth Miller's fourth novel, The Woman Who Came Back to Life, so revisiting it in audio, expertly narrated by Sarah Durham, is an absolute pleasure, including the tears.5★s

From the quirky title and imaginative story premise, I hoped for something clever from Salena Godden’s debut novel, Mrs Death Misses Death, but I was disappointed when it degenerated into what seems to be a disjointed jumble of the author’s minor works without much plot or resolution. It’s a stretch to call this a novel.2★s
