The audio version of this collection of 36 Maeve Binchy short stories, Chestnut Street, is read by Kate Binchy, so there's the added bonus of that wonderful Irish accent. It is a bit of a mixed bag: most of the stories are true Maeve Binchy diamonds; a few, those that feel unfinished, are just stones.4★s

I recently used a power failure to finish reading some favourites. Particularly, Hobb is a useful study for writers wanting to write old-world fantasy.
Pawn of Prophecy is an oldie but a goodie. I have concerns for this as a YA read, and encourage parental oversight and discussion on a particularly controversial aspect. My adult eyes, on the other hand, were delighted at the inclusion of Eddings's Cherokee heritage.Full review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
