Reading Like a Writer: A Guide for People Who Love Books and for Those Who Want to Write Them is just what it says it is. Francine Prose is a highly regarded literary authority who knows her stuff, but isn't stuffy. She also knows how to poke fun at herself.

Diving for Pearls is the debut novel for Irish writer Jamie O’Connell. His version of Dubai is realistically vivid, but one most tourists would not recognise.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My review for
Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead, an epic and engrossing saga (600+ pages) about a fictional female pilot and her quest to fly a great circle around the world from pole to pole. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Thanks Gloria :)
Thanks Gloria :)
The narrator always makes a big difference to how enjoyable an audio book is. Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood and Jerome Pride are the perfect fit for Two Steps Onward, the follow up to Two Steps Forward, by Anne Buist and Graeme Simsion. 5★s

While Suzanne McCourt's second novel, The Tulip Tree is a beautifully written story of what a certain Polish family endures through the first half of the 20th Century, it just didn't grab me. Maybe I'm suffering from historical fiction overload fatigue.3.5★s

Yes there is at the moment - a lot of cosies too that I'm enjoying. I guess it's just what each individual is reading :)
Popular Aussie author Rachael Johns has written about a mother who is surprised to find herself pushed into Flying the Nest without her kids! Her fans will enjoy this one.

For me it is what the HF book is about. I am totally over books set in WW2 and anything to do with persecuting witches but I can read any stories set in for example Regency England and further back.

Yes, Phrynne, I'm over war and persecution. I think it was the mention in the blurb of the Snowy Mountains Scheme 1953 that drew me in, but that only took up the last six pages...

The Essence of Nathan Biddle by J. William Lewis is an impressive literary debut than will appeal especially, but not exclusively, to readers of a certain vintage.4★s

My Year Of Living Vulnerably sounds like a memoir by talented, tormented Aussie journalist, author, and broadcaster Rick Morton, but it dives into culture, politics, philosophy, and science, especially PTSD and the brain. Fascinating stuff and a great read!

Aussie author Sophie Green's third novel, Thursdays at Orange Blossom House (what a gorgeous cover!) is out 28th July, and l can assure fans they will not be disappointed. Going back to these characters and their stories each time I opened the book was like a much-needed hug, or a blanket on a cold day: pure comfort.5 big ★s from me.
