Well with all this praise I'll have to try a book by Margaret Millar. 😄

Start with Beast in View, then backtrack. You'll want to after reading that one.

The Woman Who Wouldn't Die
by Colin CotterillDr. Siri #9, possible to read as a stand-alone but I recommend the series be read in order. A woman dies but then seemingly comes back to life. You think the answer is obvious but nothing happening here is obvious. Dr. Siri rides again--5 stars.
I read The Outlier: The Life and Presidency of Jimmy Carter by Kai BirdI enjoyed reading this very comprehensive biography of a much maligned President. I rate it 4.5 stars rounded up. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I've read the entire series. My favorite was The Torso, and quite honestly, I didn't feel like the rest of the series measured up to that one.

Finished The Coroner's Lunch by Colin Cotterill. Loved this mystery and the MC set in Laos. Witty, suspenseful with some magical realism to boot! Definitely adding this series to my must read lists!

Another Kind of Eden
by James Lee BurkeIn 1962, Aaron Holland Broussard, a 26-year-old novelist looking for a story, is riding the rails out West and taking odd jobs. As usual in Burke's books, he runs into true evil.
Good story with Burke's standard touches 3.5 stars

Not sure why I haven’t heard of this author before but I’m hunting down the first book this weekend.

Derek B. Miller has given Sheldon Horowitz, his elderly protagonist from Norwegian by Night, a great back story in How to Find Your Way in the Dark. Sheldon wants to kill his father's murderer, but he's only 12. Loved it!

Whispers Underground
by Ben AAronovitchPeter Grant/Rivers of London #3, recommend the reader start with #1. The son of a U.S. Senator is found dead and Peter is assigned the case. Extremely enjoyable fantasy-mystery, maybe like an adult Harry Potter joins the cops. Also the most entertaining book about the history of London ever. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

Just finished reading "Broken Genius"--Will Parker, No. 1https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Will Parker is an almost billionaire tech company wiz who leaves Silicon Valley and his company behind (in capable hands of a trusted employee) to join the FBI and solves cases of missing....people and all things tech related.
Great new concept for a book that is not quite Police Procedural but a great read!
Definitely the best read of 2021 for me:
The Rising Tide by Sam Lloyd https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
Now starting NOTHING MORE DANGEROUS by Allen Eskens, the sixth novel in his ongoing series featuring attorney Boady Sanden, reporter Joe Talbert, and homicide detective Max Rupert. This one is a prequel of sorts giving the back story on Sanden when he was still living in Missouri during his awkward years as a teen. Pretty good so far.
I just finished The Darkness Knows
A decent Icelandic noir mystery. A link to my 3.5 star review:

Evil For Evil
by James R. BennBilly Boyle #4, OK to read as a stand-alone. In this one arms have been stolen from the Army in Ireland and Billy is sent to track them down and to prevent the Germans from partnering with the IRA. Good story, I liked it.
I must read more Jeffery Deaver! I enjoyed his latest Amazon Original Story, Cause of Death, which could easily have been deveoped into a novel. While the title may not be unique, the cause of death certainly is.
5★ Link to my review of Cause of Death
My Name is Anton by Catherine Ryan Hyde will be enjoyed by her fans. I also think younger readers would like this story of a young man in love.

Secrets on the Fens
by Joy EllisDI Nikki Galena and her team investigate a series of odd murders.
This is an artful mystery and police procedural that will challenge even the most clever armchair detective. 3.5 stars

Just finished:
Dream Girl
by Laura Lippman
A nicely paced and plotted suspense novel. My full review:

I read Midnight Crossing by Tricia Fields I enjoyed it. Both my wife and I read this series. You may have noticed that we share some books. This series is set in a fictional West Texas small border desert town. Since there is only 1 murder and no grisly violence, I would class it as a cozy mystery. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just started Lord of the Flies, 2nd time reading it. First time was brilliant on multiple levels, because it was also the first classic that I actually enjoyed reading!
Just started Crimson Lake by Candice Fox. It's started off well. Also started Jade Dragon Mountain by Elsa Hart
