Araych | 676 comments London Rules London Rules (Slough House, #5) by Mick Herron by Mick Herron

Slough House #5, possible to read as a stand-alone but some familiarity with the characters would be helpful. In this one the slow horses help track the perpetrators of a mass murder. This is an absolutely wonderful thriller/mystery, very English, and with rather more humor than usual. I loved every word. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

James Best (jamesbest) | 299 comments Now starting NOBODY WALKS by Mick Herron, a stand alone thriller that was shortlisted for the CWA Steel Dagger Award.

I have read Herron's "Slough House" novels over the years and really enjoyed them.. But this is the first time I have sampled any of his work from outside of that series.

I finally started and finished The Shooting Party, by Anton Chekhov, published in 1884. It's a good crime story, framed as a novel within a novel; also a look at the "beau monde" (upper, aristocratic class) of Russian society at the time, complete with debauchery.
