What a great list, Candi. I see you plan to read a roman dur by Simenon. I gave Dirty Snow 5 stars. Hope you love it.

The Magnificent Ambersons is brilliant and hilarious!

Brina Candi, I love this decade challenge. Books by some authors I enjoy that I haven’t read yet. Enjoy this. I agree, moderation is the best route so you don’t get overwhelmed.

Anne (reachannereach) | 489 comments Candi, Congrats on finishing members choice. We both read bio/autobio for this one. :))

message 25: by Candi (new)

Candi (candih) | 673 comments Thank you, Anne! I don't read a lot of bios, so that's a bit of fun!

message 26: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) | 489 comments Candi wrote: "Thank you, Anne! I don't read a lot of bios, so that's a bit of fun!"

I don't read a lot of bios either, Candi. Making it even more of a coincidence. I happen to be reading yet another biography now, The Monk of Mokha, which was meant to be read for the non-fiction square for my Bingo challenge. I used Gabriel Byrne's bio for that. I do like bios if they are interesting. So far, so good.

Candi (candih) | 673 comments I'm actually going to try to read some memoirs this year, Anne! One that is well done can be quite enjoyable! I'll be interested to keep up with your reading of any of them as well :)

Which ones do you have planned for this year?

message 30: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) | 489 comments Candi' some really great choices on your list. I can vouch for 2 and maybe 3. Odd Woman and Born a Crime were 5 star reads for me and favorites. Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter I read a while ago so it's not fresh in my mind, but I think you will like it a lot. Happy memoir reading this year! ;))

Candi (candih) | 673 comments Thank you, Anne! I know Odd Woman landed on my list thanks to you! Do you have any other bios/memoirs lined up?

I'm changing my answer. I just remembered that I have Eat a Peach on my tbr. My library has it and I will read it once it is my turn.

I'm glad that you Odd Woman made your list. I think you'll love it.

Doesn't he? I've only been friends with him for a short time but every time he writes a review the book ends up on my tbr. :)) I will be reading/listening to Eat a Peach whenever it becomes available. at my library.

Yes, nice job on the challenge. The Constant Gardener sounds really good. Published in 2001, it just barely misses the cut off for group nomination, but I might think about it for a challenge book. I'm glad you have found books you liked.

I'm trying to make some headway starting out, Sara. In case I stumble again partway through the year! When you're ready to read le Carre again, just give a shout. You know I'll join!
