Sofia (sofloaf) | 3641 comments Parents think they're entitled to your good graces, your kindness, your joy, your future. Well, they're not. So.

Trisha (semi-hiatus) (booksreviewsandprocrastination) | 5341 comments Sofia wrote: "Parents think they're entitled to your good graces, your kindness, your joy, your future. Well, they're not. So."

Hmmm...that is true that they're not entitled to anything from us. But I do think I owe them some part of my joy, good graces, kindness and future, because they're the ones that made it possible for me to have these? And it's not like they're wrong....if I don't study, like I'm not right now, it will have an adverse effect on my grades, which are the only way to get into a good college in this country
I really feel that mine are trying their best...and I'm not helping them

message 1032: by Sofia, Bookish Duck (new)

Sofia (sofloaf) | 3641 comments IMO, they're the ones who decided to have me, so it's kind of their responsibility to do all that. However, I do love them (most of the time), and I agree that they're just trying their best. Most of the time.

it's true really...my parents have already told me what they can and cannot afford, and what it's going to take to get into a college...I've seen cutoffs for foreign colleges, and there is such little competition

In that way, they really are doing their best...both them and I know that I might not like studying and there are a million things I'd rather be doing, but it's like an understanding that I have to study enough to get a good job, and then do whatever I want...just get settled, and then go crazy

It is. All people cannot be geniuses. It's perfectly fine to be average but this education system crushes everything.

EXACTLY
SUICIDE SHOULD NOT BE A PREVALENT THING
IT'S LITERALLY JUST EDUCATION
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH PRESSURE ON STUDENTS THAT THEY WOULD KILL THEMSELVES?
