while she wasn't angry about rhys because she expected that he would do something like that, she was angry at amren, and went to her house to shout at her

throughout the book nesta has been having issues about elain and other people 'not choosing her', as if taking decisions for her good are automatically people conspiring against her, which is understandable form nesta's POV, but taking it out on poor feyre who came to defuse the situation when feyre was all for telling her anyway, and nesta knew it, and just to prove a point she breaks it to feyre that she might die

however, feyre should have been told by rhys. that is a whole other topic and problem though so just mentioning that.

in terms of nesta, she has her own trauma and while it doesn't excuse her actions i think it explains them. the inner circle didn't treat her right either so tbh i'm not surprised that nesta is mean to them. it was wrong to tell feyre about it but only because of her intention. and i think people tend to ignore nesta's trauma and paint her as the villain. in my opinon it's more complicated :)

Oh definitely!(view spoiler)[ While Nesta was wrong to blurt it out at all, the knowledge should not have been kept from Feyre. I get the keeping it from her to reveal at sone calm moment, and they haven' been having any calm moments.... I also get keeping it from Feyre till the main solutions they were lookinbg up were accpeted or rejected, but they should definitely have told her earlier.

my outrage was more about that, i get that there was a good reason to keep it from her for a little while, and I get that Nesta didn't want to keep it from her anymore. i just didn't like that nesta used the knowledge to get one up on feyre and then run and leave her alone at a time when she might have been very scared.

i just wished that nesta would have had some empathy for a pregnant woman, who is also her sister, and not use sensitive knowledge that could send her in a spiral to get one up on her

the way nesta was like 'i am doing this for the kid too', i wished she might have considered a bit for the mother

on the nesta side, it is definitely complicated XD i can get the hatred on both sides....feyre is someone who the inner circle love, somone they have seen the worst sides of, and they love and respect her

while not completely justified, they blame nesta a little for her predicament, which is slightly justified because we see this from nesta'ss side as well, feyre is always someone who is too little, too unimportant, and nesta gets jealous of her very quickly, especially when it comes to elain

nesta, on the other hand, is callous and sometimes insensitive, but that's her nature. you can count on her to be sensitive, and understanding, but not when it goes against her wishes. case in point, feyre. i understand wanting to hurt feyre at that moment, and now, after a night of good sleep, i can even understand her blurting it out. i just regret it.

i regret that nesta wasn't able to control her emotions enough to be understanding about feyre. and i hope that she makes it up somehow because this is a f*cking disaster right now

(view spoiler)[ i personally think neither rhys nor anyone else had a right to keep the information from feyre. i can see your point with it possibly endangering the pregnancy but i still think she deserved to know right away. it's about her life in the end. i also think that feyre forgave the inner circle a bit too quickly for it, especially rhys. the whole "i did it to protect you" thing seems like a bit of gaslighting to me, like what he did after drugging feyre for the party under the mountains (then saying he only touched her waist, would have liked more but only didn't because of tamlin, he wanted to protect her...) - i think sometimes rhys' protective side can get a little toxic...

in terms of nesta, yes, she definitely should have found a better moment. the thing i applaud her for, though, is that she was the only one who really wanted to tell feyre and i think if she hadn't done it then, she would have done it later on. feyre wanted to help and nesta wanting to hurt her is unfair. but i still "get" nesta. she is still in the process of healing. the ic completely took her choices away, forced her to the house of wind and didn't care for her own wants. i know they wanted to help, but they did it wrong.
also i think they all (maybe apart from cassian) were biased from the beginning as they only got feyre's thoughts of nesta in the first 4 books. same goes for the readers. nesta isn't portrayed well and doesn't get a chance to justify herself. that also works for rhys btw! all the time we saw rhys through feyre's eyes and while reading acosf i realised how biased i was because of that. i hadn't had an objective view of him and excused many of his wrong actions because of that. oh and i just wanted to say i love it that i can talk about the book with you because i think nobody else i know has read acosf really :)

and i am not completely sure baout the gaslighting? Maybe he is like that, but (and I feel so weird confessing this because he does seem toxic in places, especially in the acotar book) rhys is one of my favourite love interests. of all time. and i don't know what that says about me.

i'm a bit of a sucker for the 'i did it to protect you' trope, when it manifests in ways like the first book.....him using her to get himself out (keep in mind he did not know he was her mate at this time, irhgt?) and (of course) keeping her honour intact and whatnot by using her, yes, but not using her (if that makes any sense), was one of my favourite parts of acomaf.....that kind of conflict which it introduced in the book, with 'rhys never did anything wrong with me' but 'he's supposed to be the enemy' but 'tamlin was not okay' and then 'rhys lets me be independent' was just something i really enjoyed

(view spoiler)[ i do think it is gaslighting. i recently found two posts about rhys on insta, if you wanna look at them, the name of the account is called @letstalkbookish and they explain the whole drugging situation and the nesta-rhys-thing very well.

i also completely understand you liking rhys, i personally loved him, too, when i read the books. now i still like him, but since the problematic aspects of his character were introduced to me, i have a more objective view of him. you can like a character and simultaneously acknowledge their problems! :)

as for rhys trying to get out himself and feyre's conflict, i agree that these part were really interesting and intriguing to read!
however, i would disagree with the "rhys never did anything wrong with me". he's definitely not a tamlin, but he isn't the perfect saviour either.

it's valid for you to like the trope/rhys/the book! i just want to tell you to be a little critical and careful. it's always good to be sceptical. i think the protective vibes are sometimes glorified in fiction and we all know fiction can influence real life, unfortunately also in this aspect.

oh thanks, i should be critical too! i do think it's pretty important to know what you like/hate, passing opinions on stuff one doesn't know is what makes me hate a lot of people in this world, IRL or otherwise, so it would be so hypocritical of me to do the same! this is actually the philosophy behind me going and reading one star reviews of some of my favourite books, just because some times somehting makes you see it in a idfferent way, and that changes the way you look at so many things in life! (one of the many reasons, i suspect, that i like dramione fanfiction....the different thoughts and opinions on stuff that gets narrated only through harry's head is really refreshing

on the answer that i wanted to continue, with the second paragraph in your last comment on the last page(view spoiler)[ same, though it took me a while to get over it, nesta telling her was a boon....we've already seen that rhys will not tell somehting to feyre if he doesn't feel she absolutely has to know, or if if goes against any of his schemes...case in point the whole mating thing (while i think that reveal really set up a lot of angst (which i loved) and that he could probably not have revealed it to her voluntarily, did he have to wait so long? and then he behaved as if he was just going to let the friends with benefits or whatever nonsense he came up with for forever *shaking my head*)

and yes, you can really get nesta, because nothing which she does is ever completely unjustified sadistic behaviour....you just need her side of things, and they put so much perspective into her decisions and really break your heart in a lot of places where you go OH YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT THIS WORLD WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITOUT YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW

i feel nesta is a very complex character, and her bitchiness is so.... not exactly justified, but understandable? i can understand why she lashes out, and pushes people away, and while i wished she didn't do that, that is what makes her nesta. it is the way she is, and the fact that people love her despite it is amazing, because it's like no one is unlovable

her insensitiveness in some plaes is a part of her, whether or not it was put there only by her mother, it is now a part of her. she'll always think in that way, but there isn't anything wrong about it because that fact that she's willing to work past it speaks a lot (i feel like i went on a completely different tangent than where i started with, but now it's done ;) )

i somewhat disagree about what you said that the inner circle didn't do it the right way, but my reasoning is that sometimes people need a push....leaving her alone to wallow in her thoughts was not working, so they decided to push her.. while they could have been slightly more understading, from cassian's POV you really start feelingt hat maybe they did the right thing because it didn't seem like nesta was ever going to come out of her low

exactly! people always go on about how rhys "gives feyre a choice" and stuff and while he is definitely an improvement compared to tamlin, he only gives feyre a choice or in this case the information when it's fitting for him. i agree on the whole mate thing, it made a good story-line but it's not justifiable.

yes! nesta's behaviour is totally explainable. that doesn't mean it's always right but i can see why she behaves that way and why she thinks that way. she is totally underrated in my opinion and people easily dismiss her as cold and just bad when she is so much more. and i agree, that slightly insensitive part of her, the cold stares, the insults - it's all still her. that is nesta and i think it makes her an amazing character. i always liked her, even during the first four books, but acosf made her one of my fav characters of all times.

also i think nesta is often seen as bad in the fandom because she's female. if you take rhys for example, him being cold and bitchy sometimes is seen as cool and makes him the great character he is. but when nesta, a female, does it, it's not okay. might be some internalised misogyny...

yeah! i love that we got a different pov in acosf and i'm already so excited for the az pov that's to come because that's gonna paint everything in a whole other light again.
