YA Fiction. Follows a teenage boy I think, but has a variety of random stories, specifically one about a family's beloved pet bird flying into a pot of boiling pasta. Read in 2016-2017.

YA Fiction book. I read this book in 2016-2017. The only thing that I can remember is a very specific story about a family having a pet bird and one day, the dad was cooking pasta with the bird on his shoulder and it was like the bird had a death wish. It flew directly into the boiling pasta water. They take the bird to an animal hospital and as it's hooked up to the ventilator or whatever, the man starts laughing uncontrollably, much to his daughter and wife's dismay. I know that isn't a lot to work with. It was given to me by a high school English teacher. I wish I could remember more. I think it followed a teenage native American boy.
