Took me a little while to get into this book, and then found it captivating and really enjoyed reading it. However, the ending seemed abrupt and felt some of the threads of the plot were not resolved adequately.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia are all done. I feel like I may end up elevating my challenge level.

So, isn't it interesting that the territory of Norfolk Island is about to go from being a NSW protectorate to a QLD one?

Does anyone have any good books set on Norfolk to recommend? Or Cocos Keeling? I feel that both of those may deserve their own categories almost ;)

Deborah, I just noticed you're not putting your star ratings next to the read you've finished. Would you mind doing that please? It's helpful for others if they wish to check it out :)

Morgan's Run by Colleen McCullough is a novel where much of it is set in Norfolk Island. There should be many more, there's some interesting history there. A couple of my ancestors were transported there as convicts even their story is really interesting.

I really would love to visit Norfolk - we went close once, but still haven't been. It is steeped in history! I really enjoyed Morgan's Run when I read it many years ago :)

message 136: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I have always wanted to visit Norfolk too Brenda - it is not that cheap or easy to get to though so it has never quite happened.

Thank you - I will consider this one, though McCullough and I have a checkered relationship in a manner of speaking.

We had a cruise booked (years ago) which called into Norfolk. But for me it was the cruise from hell with storms and 9 meter swells. Consequently they couldn't stop at Norfolk as it was tender access :( I was VERY pleased to get off that one I can tell you!

Joanne Farley I have just finished my ACT read Honeysuckle Creek : The Story of Tom Reid, a Little Dish and Neil Armstrong's First Step. I can not put into words how much I enjoyed this book. I had thought I had a basis understanding of our role in the Apollo moon missions but I was totally wrong. Everything I thought I knew was wrong. I am so glad I decided to read this as part of this challenge.
