I read this book when I was a child in the late 1980s or early 1990s. As I remember the story, a mouse finds a giant yellow wheel of cheese and begins to nibble it. As he eats it night after night, the moon in the sky is “disappearing” going from a full moon to crescent. The mouse thinks he is eating the moon. I remember beautiful illustrations with vibrant colors.
