So Angelfall was really close but I used one of the links in this groups resource discussion and I think I found the book- Midnight Fire (Rise of the Dark Angel) by Melody Anne. However, it is not available on the kindle (which is where I think I read it) and when I look on Amazon it says there are 2 copies but they are over $800!?! I looked at the Barnes and Noble website but it doesn't look like they have it. I was hoping I could find a part of it to read so I could make sure it was the right book. Does anyone have any ideas?

I believe it started with what happened to the world and I remember a scene where the girl and her family are having to pack up what they could to escape (I don't remember what they were escaping from) and she brings up one of the girls in the survivor camp talking about nail polish (I'm pretty sure she didn't like the girl). It was something like the girl was only worried about what she looked like and the main character was like why would you be worried about that at a time like this?
There are two scenes that I remember the most, with one being either the main character or her brother getting killed (I think shot?) when they were out looking for food or something and the main angel guy ends up saving their life and I can't remember if that turned them also into an angel or something (I'm pretty sure it was the brother). If it was the brother then they didn't tell him what they did, at least I think? Or if they did I can't remember that detail.
Another scene is where this beautiful girl comes to where this group of people are (I think it's similar to The Host by Stephanie Myers in the sense that it is underground with tunnels?) and the main angel recognizes her and they reunite and the main girl gets jealous but it ends up being the main angels sister. and his sisters laughs and points this out.
I definitely think it was supposed to be a series because it left off on a cliff hanger where they had to plan what was next in an attempt to save the world.
Similar to The Host but with angels.
