Completion Post:Just finished reading: "Yesterday" written by Fern Michaels (★★★☆☆) it is a historical romance set in the South. Coming together for a wedding, four friends share memories of childhood set in South Carolina, when a car accident irrevocably changes their lives.
This book shares its title with another book written by Felicia Yap, which I have already read for challenge #31 and am re-doing for this challenge.
Michaels' narrative is filled with stereotypes and tropes, which moves the unevenly and somewhat predictable plot forward. Michaels stirs up love-drama between the old friends and wangles revelations out of Mama Pearl about Bode and Callie's secret origins and racial heritage.
For a book set in a Mediterranean country, I read both of P. Djèlí Clark's steampunk Cairo stories: A Dead Djinn in Cairo
The Haunting of Tram Car 015
Eszter und Angela: Roman, 2 starsRe-did #32 A selfish character (would also fit as #4 An author that is deceased)
Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano (redo of #51 - published in 2021). I read a lot of newly published books, so this prompt is great.
I did #48 A Cover with a woman facing away, using the book "The Woman in Red" by Diana Giovinazzo, a fictionalized biography of Anita Garibaldi.https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2021...
The Stone-Cutter by Camilla Läckberg - a re-do of #35 . I used the previous book in the series (The Preacher) as #35.
I was, fortunately, in the middle of a cozy mystery series featuring a cat, so I was able to re-do #43 Character with a pet cat.
Cat on the Scent
by Rita Mae Brown. I was enjoying this series until the author started injecting her political views through the main character. If it had advanced the story lines that would have been OK. Since it didn't, it was simply annoying.
I read The 99% Invisible City: A Field Guide to the Hidden World of Everyday Design by Roman Mars and Kurt Kohlstedt. This is a repeat of prompt #29 - Featuring the Environment. This one is about the 'built environment'. People who follow the podcast 99% Invisible Design might like this, but be warned, some of the book content is a repeat of some podcast episodes — but there is still definitely new info.
I chose to redo the prompt #1 Set in a School I was excited to finish this duology. I read
