Series Project (Progress/Finish Your Series in 2021)
Eva wrote: "@Beth: well done, and that looks like an interesting indie series! But is this a sequel?"Hi, Eva! As a minor correction, it isn't an indie series. It's published by Harper Voyager. I can understand the mistake, given the cover (which, tbh, I hate. it doesn't reflect either the content or the tone of the series, and looks like it was thrown together from stock graphics/photos).
On the real question, I consider it a sequel. There was a sequence of three novellas that was published previously to it, and that comes before it in story order. They were published individually as ebooks and then collected together as Los Nefilim . (I like this cover better, though it still looks like minimum effort work based on stock material.)
I've got a good start with my favorite author series which is the Stormlight Archive. These first two months I read the second Words of Radiance and the third book in the series Oathbringer and now only book 4, Rhythm of War, has to be read.I'm reading another sequel right now too, The Ghost Brigades, but I'm yet unsure if I will continue the series. I like it but military sci-fi isn't my favorite subgenre.
I read Across the Green Grass Fields which I'm counting for square 1. Favorite author, Seanan McGuire, and for the bonus 4. Landscape on the cover, collecting the flower🌹.

Oops, sorry! Thank you for correcting my misconceptions. It was a pre-coffee post. 🥴😅
@Leticia: wow, that's some quick reading of huge tomes!
And congrats on the flower, Meredith - definitely a good fit.
I finished my longer series square by catching up with the Dresden Files:1. Side Jobs🧛♂️👻
2. Brief Cases🧛♂️👻
3. Peace Talks 🧛♂️🕵️♂️ 👻
4. Battle Ground🧛♂️👻
There were vampires and a ghost in each of them and a murder that needed to be solved in Peace Talks.
Meredith wrote: "I read Across the Green Grass Fields which I'm counting for square 1. Favorite author, Seanan McGuire, and for the bonus 4. Landscape on the cover, collecting the flower🌹."I'm re-reading the series to end up with this book, I love this series!
Update: I've just finished The Ghost Brigades, which I'm counting for a bonus challenge to collect the star: ✨ (planet on the cover), as well as Caliban's War, which I'm using to collect the UFO 🛸 (contains spaceflight). I might count The Expanse for the SF series bingo square if I can finish it this year, but I'm not sure yet.
Meredith wrote: "I read Across the Green Grass Fields which I'm counting for square 1. Favorite author, Seanan McGuire, and for the bonus 4. Landscape on the cover, collecting the flower🌹."I finally read this one as well but I was still unsure where to put it. Favorite other or longer series. But you know what - I'll put it down for favorite author and hope I'll actually manage another long series this year...
By the way, is it allowed to switch the bingo squares/boni around afterwards?
I am doing so badly at this challenge! In stead of finishing series that I have started, I’ve started 2 new ones! And ones that I actually want to continue!!
Llyren wrote: "Meredith wrote: "I read Across the Green Grass Fields which I'm counting for square 1. Favorite author, Seanan McGuire, and for the bonus 4. Landscape on the cover, collecting the f..."I'm planning to read the next Incryptid, Calculated Risks, for the longer series prompt.
DivaDiane wrote: "I am doing so badly at this challenge! In stead of finishing series that I have started, I’ve started 2 new ones! And ones that I actually want to continue!!"by my reading of the rules, if you finish those, they count. Several of mine are that way, but they're already in my TBR pile
DivaDiane wrote: "I am doing so badly at this challenge! In stead of finishing series that I have started, I’ve started 2 new ones! And ones that I actually want to continue!!"You have a whole year, lots of time to start and finish! :-)
I've finished at least 3 series this year, but as an app user I can't see what I'm meant to be working to. I'll figure it out later. :)
AMG wrote: "Here's where I stand for the end of February:I have two squares now: The Inheritance Trilogy for the trilogy square, and The Nightrunner Series for the "New-to-You Author" square. No cats yet, al..."
Somehow your message didn't show up at first when I looked at this thread: conratulations, AMG! That's a lot of very quick progress! 👏
There's no way on earth I'll finish this series this year, but I can log Pyramids, book 7 in the Discworld series. Part of it is set in a high desert, so I will collect fire. 🔥
Finished my third square:Genre Bender = Lynn Hightower's Elaki series
Trilogy = The Chronicles of Tornor Trilogy: Watchtower, The Dancers of Arun, and The Northern Girl
Debut Author = Rosemary Kirstein's Steerswoman series
unfortunately none of those a Bingo makes. Ill' have to either do a long series or two in another row/column to get that

Eva wrote: "@Leticia: wow, that's some quick reading of huge tomes!"When I like a book it goes really fast, in the same way as it doesn't work at all when I don't feel a book is for me.
Wow, congrats, Leticia! 👏It's the same for me: some books I can read at great speed, while others go very slowly.
My sequels so far:
💃
🐺
💕 (I can't believe there's no crow emoji!)
✨
🛸Of the above, only Wild Sign qualifies for a Bingo Square, but I'm not sure which one I want to use it for.
AMG wrote: "Still no bingos quite yet, but I will have completed a diagonal before the end of the month. I just finished the broken earth trilogy and it blew. my. mind.
Awesome, Roo and AMG!! 🎈✨I added somewhere in the middle of the thread that your prize for a diagonal will be a hipster cat: 🐱👓 and then forgot to edit the original post to say so: fixed now! So congratulations on winning your first hipster cat, I hope it will prove a capable fighter.
Finally I've read another book for this challenge. I'm stuck with the Iron Druid Chronicles since January (part 8 would be the next one), but I've reread the second book of Wayward Children and I claim the vampire for it:Down Among the Sticks and Bones
I've continued with the fifth book of the Wayward Children series and I claim the heart for it.Come Tumbling Down
And now on to the latest part of the series - and hopefully my first cross on the bingo chart.
Coming closer to finishing the trilogy with my reread of the second book:❄ C.L. Polk - Stormsong
Believe me, those winter storms are no joke!
I have finished the latest installment of the Wayward Children Series:Across the Green Grass Fields
For this I claim the flower for the beautiful green landscape on the cover.
And finally I can cross my first bingo field - the genre bender
*woohoo*
Thank you, Eva :)And here comes the next one: the fourth (and last) book in the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers:
The Galaxy, and the Ground Within
For the many alien protagonists I claim the alien. And as this is the last book of a quartet, I can fill in the second bingo field.
Oh, you remind me that I wanted to read this series, too! Really looking forward to it. Here's a little 👽 for you - and some sushi 🍣 because he's *such* a picky eater and it's the only thing he likes. 🙄
going with the Night Threads Series starting with The Calling of the Three by Ru Emerson instead of the Dragonback Series starting with Dragon and Thief by Timothy Zahn as the Night Threads series contains my 1, 2 & 3 books for the Alphabet Numbers challenge.
I claim the ghost 👻 for C.L. Polk - Soulstar. And with this trilogy by a new-to-me author completed, I also claim a ninja cat 🐱👤for my first bingo row.
@ Eva: Thanks for the additional sushi for my picky little alien. @ Llyren: Congratulation on the ninja cat.
I have finished the eighth book in the Iron Druid Chronicles:
Aufgespießt
And for the featured Lady in Red I claim the ghost.
Now there is only one book left in this series (I'm ignoring the two collections for motivation reasons right now)!
It's done: the ninth and last novel of the Iron Druid Chronicles is read! Yeah!
ZerschmettertFor this I claim the dancer, as there is clearly a person on the cover.
And with 9 novels this is my series for the longer series bingo field.
Congrats! I'm two books away from my Bingo with Debut Author = Rosemary Kirstein's Steerswoman series
Genre Bender = Lynn Hightower's Elaki series
Longer Series = Ru Emerson's Night Threads series (I'm on book 4 out of 6)
I am close to completing my Fantasy Series, the books I have read for this challenge last month:✨ ✔️
🦄✔️
🧛♂️✔️
🦄✔️
I also have a question: I've read a book with two novellas/novelettes related to the Iron Druid Chronicles and with the same characters, but not directly related to the main story. It's Oberons blutige Fälle
Does this count as a sequel for the bonus challenges?
And finally I've read the short story collection from the Iron Druid Chronicles:Überfallen: Stories aus der Chronik des Eisernen Druiden
As two stories feature murder investigations, I claim the detective for this book.
Good job, everyone!Yes, you can count Graphic Novels if you want them to count. :-)
Here you go, Myriel:
🐶🐶🕵️♂️
Just finished: Favorite Author Seanan McGuire: Wayward Children: I decided to re read from the beginning and so happy I did, I love this series.1. Every Heart a Doorway (Reread) 5 stars
2. Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Reread) 5 stars
3. Beneath the Sugar Sky (Reread) 5 stars
4. In an Absent Dream (Reread) 5 stars
5. Juice Like Wounds (Short story) 4 stars
6. Come Tumbling Down 3 stars (I was surprised I didn't love this one when Down Among is one of my favs)
7. Across the Green Grass Fields 4 stars
My hope is in the upcoming ones we get the stories of Cora, Chris, Kade and Eleanor's doors. Even if there are short stories!
Finished the Night Threads series by Ru Emerson which gives me Debut Author = Rosemary Kirstein's Steerswoman series
Genre Bender = Lynn Hightower's Elaki series
Longer Series = Night Threads series
for the far right column.
I already have completed
Trilogy = The Chronicles of Tornor Trilogy: Watchtower, The Dancers of Arun, and The Northern Girl
and started on
Science Fiction = Patternist 1-4 by Octavia Butler
I've started with a reread of the Penric & Desdemona novellas in order to catch up on the latest 3 parts. On the cover of the second book, Penric and the Shaman there are 3 animals. Based on the story I would guess that these are sheep:
Are there sheep as part of the sequel challenge no. 7? If yes, I'd like to claim 3 sheep as company for my 2 dogs :)
As I'm reading the Penric novellas in chronological order, the next book was
Penric's FoxAnd for this I claim a beautiful fox / vixen.
I just finished the second book in Seed to Harvest: The Complete Patternist Series and have the last two books to go for the Science Fiction squareI've also switched out Peter V. Brett's Demon Cycle series with Raymond E. Feist's Riftwar Saga which I've almost completed for the Fantasy square

I've read the third book in my debut author series (which has 10 books, so this will take a while till I can cross it off)
and the second book in the new-to-me author series (Green Man's Heir and Green Man's Foe)
I have very little time for eye reading at the moment, and all of the series I chose are on ebook.
