Want to participate in Diverse December? You're in the right place!

Simply post your TBR here! (If you'd rather not make a TBR, just write down books as you begin them. Mood reading is a-okay, too!)

When you progress in your TBR, you can update your original comment, add a comment stating your progress, or preferably, BOTH! Whether you've just started a new read, finished a book, or just want to share some thoughts, have at it!

If you'd like to update your original TBR comment as you progress, you can strike through the titles, add (READ) to the line, or whatever else you like. Feel free to add more to your TBR as the month progresses!

Rachel | 86 comments My diverse reads for the month are:

- Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
- The Cousins by Karen M. McManus

My other (seasonal) reads include:

- Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett (as part of Discworld December, my own private tradition)
- Let it Snow by John Green, Lauren Myracle, and Maureen Johnson

I doubt I'll have time for anything else, but we shall see!

NAT.orious reads ☾ (thevoiceofthewolf) | 37 comments TBR left fitting the challenge:
Oktoberfest 1900 - Träume und Wagnis: Roman - dnf: diverse for me because I can't remember the last time I read something by a female author written in my native tongue.

Lord of Shadows

You're Never Weird on the Internet

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue7

READ for the challenge:

1. In a Holidaze: features a gay couple.

2. NOS4R2: diverse for me because I almost never read horror books.

3. The Space Between Worlds: Main character is a bisexual BIPOC woman.

4. Children of Blood and Bone: female Black author from Nigeria, book inspired by african folklore - completely new view on fantasy for me.

5. Legend: written by a female author of Chinese descent.

6. Utopia for Realists: And How We Can Get There: it says a lot about my reading habits that books written by Dutch white men already count as diverse for me. (Sadly, Rutger fails to deliver on 50% of what he promises with the title of this book - the How We Can Get There part.

7. Our Way: pansexual male love interest. NOT a recommendation.

8. Broken Homes: Black MC.

9. All About Us: Romance novel written by a man - very unusual for me.

10. All Grown Up: big age difference but the man is the young one.

11. The Impossible Quest Of Hailing A Taxi On Christmas Eve: Greek author.

12. Seven Devils: presentation of bisexuality, propably asexuality and POC. Also; 6 out of 7 devils are identifying as female.

13. Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets, & Advice for Living Your Best Life: female Asian American author.

Rook (bookdog99) | 14 comments Final List:

Feed

Deadline

Blackout

Conceal, Don't Feel

Feedback

Wilder Girls

Edit: Ok so since I'm gonna wait until the new year to pick up anything else, this is my final list!!! Not too bad, though I surprisingly didn't have as much diversity this month as I had wanted :/ I mean I did have some in both Feedback and Wilder Girls, just not as much as I would want. Oh well, there's always next month!!!

message 11: by Christopher (new)

Christopher (skitch41) | 13 comments I was already planning on getting to a bunch of BIPOC and anti-racism books this month. Here’s what I have planned thus far:

-A Promised Land by Barack Obama
-African American Poetry: 250 years of struggle and song by Kevin Young(Editor)
-White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo
-How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
-Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

I also plan on reading A Queer History of the United States for Young People by Michael Bronski, but that is not on my owned & unread TBR.

message 12: by Kelly (last edited Dec 28, 2020 12:16PM) (new)

Kelly | 146 comments As far as I know, all, or most, of these books fit this month's challenge in some way- mainly with POC in them, but also LGBT+ characters:

- Queen of Volts
- Legendborn
- Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow
- Realm of Ash
- Slay
- Raybearer

message 13: by Isaiah (last edited Dec 09, 2020 04:01PM) (new)

Isaiah (majorisbooks) I'm trying to finish the book I've already started earlier in the year, but some are diverse anyway! Plus my library obsession is still going.

TBR:
Sword in the Stars
Lakewood returned to tbr 8/12*
Proud finished 8/12
Such a Fun Age finished 9/12
Truly Devious (I think this is diverse?)
I Was Born for This (reread)

Not diverse but still on my "finish them" TBR:
Bloodline - finished 7/12
Star Wars: Imperial Handbook

If I get through 'em... maybe I'll add more :')

* ooft turns out a month with high anxiety is a bad time to read medical horror as someone with a phobia of medical situations :( it's a shame because this book is so good I just... cannot right now

message 26: by Kelly (new)
