SOLVED. YA Fantasy: Young girl on different planet from ship trying to save its original inhabitants

Read in 2018 not sure if it was published then. Girl has parents on society committee trying to return to earth. She has a strained relationship to her father due to her grandmother on mother side dying. She eventually has some kind of connection to the native animals and realizes the society is creating new animals to try and fight the native people. The ending is where she defies her father and actually ends up find her grandparents among the natives.
