Diane | 88 comments I used Sherlock Holmes and the Ice Palace Murders by Larry Millett. This is set in St. Paul Minnesota during the 1896 winter carnival. As a Minnesotan, I enjoyed the familiar setting - streets & businesses. James J. Hill, an historical wealthy Minnesotan was one of the characters.

Natasha | 67 comments I just finished The Witch's Heart The Witch's Heart . If you liked the Madeline Miller books or like Norse Mythology, this one is for you. I suspect it won't be less than 1000 for long, but it was when I read it. So there! It had like 342 when I read it, and now it's over 800, so read quickly! LOl. It also works for 2021, Forgetting, and Do-Overs

Amy (amybraswell) | 22 comments I followed the advice of a poster above and sorted my Read shelf by number of reviews. Here are some I found that fit the criteria:

The Loss of Leon Meed
UnHappenings
Erin Solomon Mysteries, Books 1 - 5
Cold a Long Time: An Alpine Mystery
Syncing Forward
Overlay: A Tale of One Girl's Life in 1970s Las Vegas
Life Among Giants
Stray (first in a series)

Most of these were free Kindle books that turned out pretty good! I rated 3+ stars on all

Amy (amybraswell) | 22 comments Just finished Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything and would definitely recommend it. I'm using it for the "book that starts with Q, X, or Z" prompt, but it would fit this one as well.

Kate | 20 comments It seems like this list is doing a great job of publicizing less-read books, because a lot of the books on there are now well above 1000!

message 66: by Ira (new)

Ira | 32 comments I'm reading Burning the Books: A History of the Deliberate Destruction of Knowledge by Richard Ovenden. It says it has 54 reviews on Goodreads.

message 67: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 31 comments A ton of the books I've read so far this year have under 1000 reviews.. I'll go with Chobits by CLAMP every volume I've read is under 1000 reviews.

message 68: by Pam (new)

message 70: by Ansima (new)

Ansima Singh | 4 comments I am reading 'The Child in the Photo' by Kerry Wilkinson. This book has only 84 reviews and 247 ratings. Around 70% done and enjoying so far.

message 71: by Leona (new)

Leona (_aprilleona) | 9 comments Mrs Escobar: My life with Pablo it only has 62 reviews and it's about the life of Maria Victoria Henao with Pablo Escobar (the infamous drug lord) whom she married and dated at a very young age.

message 72: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherbowman) | 903 comments I read The Power Behind the Throne by Steven Savile for this prompt. This was not a good book. I've read a lot of Stargate books, and this is the worst one. There are some good concepts, but they're all wasted because there's too much going on. There's an alien creature and space Nazis and a Raven King! I think the author either ran out time or hit a word limit. I can't think of any other explanation for the really abrupt ending. I recommend skipping this book.

message 73: by LeahS (new)

LeahS | 491 comments I read Mum & Dad by Joanna Trollope. It has 176 reviews on Amazon and 299 on Goodreads. I enjoy the author's books, but I don't think this one was one of her best. A pleasant read, but nothing more.

message 74: by Anshita (new)

Anshita (_book_freak) | 268 comments I am reading Black Water Sister by Zen Cho. It has 1,873 ratings but only 538 reviews. It was published in May 2021. This is the first book I'm reading by Cho and I love it. I might read more in the future.
