I set my TBR list to sort by random, and it popped Daughter of Smoke & Bone to the top. Works for me!
I also set my TBR list to sort by random and got Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Esther Hicks was at the top. I don't even remember adding this to my TBR lol
I used random.org to choose a random page from my Goodreads "want-to-read" shelf, and then used it again to find a book in the page - City of Girls. It's a miracle I only had to do this once because I wanted a book I already own physically, and got one on my first try!

I was thinking I would wait until January 1 to pick my random book, but my patience ran out. Looks like it will be The Lost World by Michael Crichton. I read Jurassic Park so long ago that I will probably need to re-read it. And then I feel a Jurassic Park movie marathon will be in my future!
Also set my TBR list to sort by random (I didn't even know Goodreads do that, that's great) and The Selection came up to me! Excited about this YA a lot of people recommended to me.
I had my fiancé pick out a book on my bookshelves and he went with The Godfather by Mario Puzo so that is what I will be reading :)
When the time comes, I will have my shamanic mage black cat pull Tarot cards for this!He pulled a great one this year for prompt # 7:An Anonymous Girl
I played "Eeny Meeny Miny Moe" with my bookshelves for this one. It looks like I'll be reading Firefly: The Magnificent Nine.
I used Google's random number generator with the number of books in my TBR and got When All Is Said, which I'm not that excited about, but it was on my TBR so I must have liked something about it at some point!
I'm just going to fill this one in when I have a book that doesn't fit any of the other categories.Hey, if I read it, that means it's on my TBR list, even if it was only on my TBR list for a few minutes before I started reading it.
I used a random number generator for this and got Ayesha at Last
So yes, this will be my book for this prompt :)
Did a random number generator using excel and got a book I am partway through, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Used random number generation in excel and got a book I am partway through! Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Using a number generator I got The Eye of Minds and using the Goodreads random sorting function I got Ulysses. Yes, I want to read Ulysses one day, but now is not that day, and this year is not that year. James Dashner it is.
I hadn't planned this choice...since it's random I figured I would figure it out later. But one day I was on Overdrive and In Pieces by Sally Field was available and I decided I'd borrow it and read it. I didn't even realize until I finished that book that it fit this prompt. Sometimes you just get lucky. :) This wasn't physically on any of my lists but, it was a book I had in my brain's TBR, LOL. That counts as far as I'm concerned.
I specifically logged on to Goodreads from my laptop to sort my TBR by random. Number 1? It Ends with Us, which I forgot was on there. Number two was Something for the Pain: Compassion and Burnout in the ER. I may just try to read both of them this year.
I used the Goodreads feature (as I need to do it for another challenge anyway) and 84, Charing Cross Road popped up :) I've already started listening to it on audio!
So I ended up doing a randomizer for my Netgalley shelf and came up with A Thousand Ships. I think I should probably do a randomizer for Netgalley every month, to be honest with you, because these poor books will languish due to all the shiny new books coming out unless I get myself to read them somehow. So this was a useful exercise that may start a good habit for me! I was also excited to read A Thousand Ships because I am hoping for a trip to Greece to break free of COVID restrictions. I didn't end up loving the book, but that's the way it goes.
I finally figured out how to do a Random sort on my Goodreads shelf and I got The Duke and I which I'm excited about because I didn't know how else I was going to fit it in this year.
I used a random number generator on my TBR list and got Soundless, which I had entirely forgotten about. The book had a few issues, but I thought the discussion of spoken vs. sign language and hearing/not hearing were quite interesting, and I did find it suspenseful. I'm glad this prompt helped me get around to it!
I read The Liar's Dictionary by Eley Williams. This was the first time since last year that we've been able to freely browse in the local library. I noticed this book was on the New Fiction shelf, and remembered it was on my TBR list. That's random enough for me.
It took me a little while to get into the book, but I did enjoy it and it is a good read if you like words and their meaning.
Happy Fat: Taking Up Space in a World That Wants to Shrink You, by Sofie Hagen.
Number 407/522. A very random number.

Cassandra wrote: "Used random number generation in excel and got a book I am partway through! Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch"One of my favorites.
Sayonee wrote: "Sorting the TBR self by random I've come up with A Tale for the Time Being!"I looooove this book.
I read The Art of Theft (Lady Sherlock #4) by Sherry Thomas. I bought this book when it came out in 2019 then forgot about it. I thought I had read it but hadn't.
Dana wrote: "I will listen to the audiobook of Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King."I read The Maidens by Alex Michaelides.
I used a random number generator and came up with Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I'm going to read it next year:D
I read Hydra by Holly Scott and Jaimie Duncan for this prompt. The concept was good, but the plot and format was confusing. It was just okay, but I'm glad to have another book off my TBR.
