A book from your TBR chosen at random.

Well. That's random!!!

message 2: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 91 comments I set my TBR list to sort by random, and it popped Daughter of Smoke & Bone to the top. Works for me!

message 3: by Sara (new)

Sara Hollingsworth | 23 comments I used a random number generator to pick mine! Came up as the The Devil's Thief off my tbr list.

message 4: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 74 comments I also set my TBR list to sort by random and got Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Esther Hicks was at the top. I don't even remember adding this to my TBR lol

message 5: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (chelseanotchels) | 55 comments I grabbed one off my physical TBR shelf; seems like as good a time as any for The Bone Clocks.

message 6: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Lourenço (ssandraa) | 128 comments I used random.org to choose a random page from my Goodreads "want-to-read" shelf, and then used it again to find a book in the page - City of Girls. It's a miracle I only had to do this once because I wanted a book I already own physically, and got one on my first try!

Lucky - that probably my favorite book I read this year.

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I was thinking I would wait until January 1 to pick my random book, but my patience ran out. Looks like it will be The Lost World by Michael Crichton. I read Jurassic Park so long ago that I will probably need to re-read it. And then I feel a Jurassic Park movie marathon will be in my future!

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments I'm going with Will and Testament for this one.

message 10: by poppy (new)

poppy (poppyland) | 7 comments Also set my TBR list to sort by random (I didn't even know Goodreads do that, that's great) and The Selection came up to me! Excited about this YA a lot of people recommended to me.

message 11: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 127 comments GR sort by random has just picked Jane: A Murder for me!

message 12: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 17 comments I had my fiancé pick out a book on my bookshelves and he went with The Godfather by Mario Puzo so that is what I will be reading :)

He pulled a great one this year for prompt # 7:An Anonymous Girl

K.L. Middleton (theunapologeticbookworm) | 847 comments I played "Eeny Meeny Miny Moe" with my bookshelves for this one. It looks like I'll be reading Firefly: The Magnificent Nine.

message 16: by Mahi (last edited Dec 16, 2020 08:36PM) (new)

Mahi | 93 comments I used Google's random number generator with the number of books in my TBR and got When All Is Said, which I'm not that excited about, but it was on my TBR so I must have liked something about it at some point!

message 17: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1255 comments TBR set to randomize.... The Far Side Gallery 5 by Gary Larson. This should be easy.

message 18: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Lanton (ruthla8) | 177 comments I'm just going to fill this one in when I have a book that doesn't fit any of the other categories.

Hey, if I read it, that means it's on my TBR list, even if it was only on my TBR list for a few minutes before I started reading it.

message 19: by Arunimaa (new)

Arunimaa | 46 comments I used a random number generator for this and got Ayesha at Last

Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin

So yes, this will be my book for this prompt :)

Jill | 84 comments I read The Overdue Life of Amy Byler for this prompt.

message 23: by 9987 (new)

9987 | 35 comments Using a number generator I got The Eye of Minds and using the Goodreads random sorting function I got Ulysses. Yes, I want to read Ulysses one day, but now is not that day, and this year is not that year. James Dashner it is.

message 24: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 574 comments I hadn't planned this choice...since it's random I figured I would figure it out later. But one day I was on Overdrive and In Pieces by Sally Field was available and I decided I'd borrow it and read it. I didn't even realize until I finished that book that it fit this prompt. Sometimes you just get lucky. :) This wasn't physically on any of my lists but, it was a book I had in my brain's TBR, LOL. That counts as far as I'm concerned.

message 25: by Adriana (new)

Adriana (atsimoes) | 10 comments I specifically logged on to Goodreads from my laptop to sort my TBR by random. Number 1? It Ends with Us, which I forgot was on there. Number two was Something for the Pain: Compassion and Burnout in the ER. I may just try to read both of them this year.

message 26: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments I used the Goodreads feature (as I need to do it for another challenge anyway) and 84, Charing Cross Road popped up :) I've already started listening to it on audio!

message 28: by Jacqie (new)

Jacqie So I ended up doing a randomizer for my Netgalley shelf and came up with A Thousand Ships. I think I should probably do a randomizer for Netgalley every month, to be honest with you, because these poor books will languish due to all the shiny new books coming out unless I get myself to read them somehow. So this was a useful exercise that may start a good habit for me! I was also excited to read A Thousand Ships because I am hoping for a trip to Greece to break free of COVID restrictions. I didn't end up loving the book, but that's the way it goes.

message 29: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Weber | 270 comments I finally figured out how to do a Random sort on my Goodreads shelf and I got The Duke and I which I'm excited about because I didn't know how else I was going to fit it in this year.

message 30: by Christy (new)

Christy | 358 comments I used a random number generator on my TBR list and got Soundless, which I had entirely forgotten about. The book had a few issues, but I thought the discussion of spoken vs. sign language and hearing/not hearing were quite interesting, and I did find it suspenseful. I'm glad this prompt helped me get around to it!

message 31: by LeahS (new)

LeahS | 491 comments I read The Liar's Dictionary by Eley Williams.

This was the first time since last year that we've been able to freely browse in the local library. I noticed this book was on the New Fiction shelf, and remembered it was on my TBR list. That's random enough for me.

It took me a little while to get into the book, but I did enjoy it and it is a good read if you like words and their meaning.

message 43: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherbowman) | 903 comments I read Hydra by Holly Scott and Jaimie Duncan for this prompt. The concept was good, but the plot and format was confusing. It was just okay, but I'm glad to have another book off my TBR.
