Lori's First Ever 2021 BINGO Challenge

Read a classic that fits the description of a square. You may NOT count the same book twice for different categories in this challenge. Each book can be applied to only one square, even if it fulfills the requirements of multiple squares. All books read to mark off squares must be finished in 2021.
Challenge Levels:
Level One Bingo
Four Corners: Mark off the four outside corners of the Bingo board.
OR
Five-in-a-Row: Mark off five squares in a row. This can be done horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Level Two Bingo
Small Box: Mark off all the 9 inner squares of the board (including the free square), leaving blank the 16 outside border squares.
Level Three Bingo
Outside Box: Mark off all 16 of the outer squares, leaving blank the 9 inner squares.
Level Four Bingo
Blackout! Mark off all twenty-five squares of the board.

Welcome and Enjoy! :)

Daphne du Maurier pretty much never disappoints either, she's actually one of my favorite authors. I look forward to following you and hearing your thoughts on Lonesome Dove if you end up reading it as I also have it planned for next year. Happy planning and reading!

Thank you Sara!! I loved Rebecca so I look forward to My Cousin Rachel.
I really should read Lonesome Dove as I've only ever read Terms of Endearment. I live in Texas and for several years near where McMurtry calls home. So, I think we should be able to compare notes!!
I see you have been working on your list, really impressive choices. You have some of my favorites.

Thanks Bob! Let’s see how it goes when the new year begins! I am such a completer when it comes to starting anything. I am going to have fun with this and enjoy what I get to read next year!

I’ve had Dr. zhivago on my shelf waiting for a while! This challenge is really going to open up a new reading path for me. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Thanks, Brina! I just read McCullers The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter this year and was blown away. There are so many possibilities here and it’s been fun getting ideas from other members too!

How great, Lori! Definitely looking forward to that. Happy reading!

I have The Towers of Trebizond and Candide down for myself, and The Dud Avocado and The Innocents Abroad also come to mind. Vonnegut, Wilde, and Swift all have works that are fair game.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, Aubrey. Very much appreciated. This is a hard category but it may boil down to what I actually own. We’ll see. I have a kindle copy of The Innocents Abroad.

I LOVE your choices of books! It looks like we share the same taste in books... I have either read many of your choices, I have them on my Bingo for next year, or they are on my "to-read one day" list. I've never read Mark Twain's The Innocents Abroad, but it's been on my TBR list for quite a while. I think it would be a great, lighthearted fun read!
Have fun with your many wonderful choices!

Thanks, Angie! I think there’s a lot of interest and definitely high praise, thank you Sara, for reading Angle of Repose. It would be great if it were a group read this year!

Thanks Susie! It’s been fun so far, now....let’s get to the reading!

😜 Thanks for the warning! I’ll try to do my best, but have fun with it! Glad to know that we share book loves. I look forward to hearing about your choices this year. Thanks for the plug for Twain.
Happy reading to you.

Awesome! Thanks very much. I don't know which I'll choose. But thanks for the positive feedback!

You've got some great books on your list. Stoner was special, Sense & Sensibility is my favorite Austen and the Moonstone was a lot of fun as well. All Quiet on the Western Front should be read by everybody and I also greatly enjoyed Tess and My Cousin Rachel.
The most important thing is to have fun, though ;-)

Good luck next year, Lori. I did my first Bingo this year and it was fun and kept me focused on the books I really wanted to read and challenged me to go out of my comfort zone a bit which I always welcome.
Nice list so far. I love to make lists, yet I also change what I read as I go. I see you have The Bronze Bow for your Newberry. I also am using this book on my list! I have had a copy on my shelf for a few years now, so this is the year to read it!

Good luck next yea..."
Anne, I am so glad you enjoyed Bingo this year. I am a bit of a competitor and I will challenge myself to meet a goal. But I want to approach this with a mind to enjoy myself and not worry about checking off my reads. Are you playing again this year? I’m not sure I’ve seen yours yet.

Thanks Connie! I’m looking forward to it.

Hi Lynn! Thank you. I too am a list maker. I have many on my phone for various things and of course for books! I think at least one other person is reading The Bronze Bow. Would be nice to see what we all think. I homeschooled my kids many years ago briefly and I keep thinking I remember this book on our reading list. This was years before I joined GR. Will be interesting to see if I remember reading it.

Yes, I'll be playing. Mine is full of different possibilities for each square. I'm such a mood reader I prefer to have options. I set mine up pretty early. Maybe that's why you haven't seen it.

Otherwise, I’ll try to go with the flow of my mood.

Oh, and it’s great to know that you change things as you go.

Anne, I hope you can fit it in this year. I picked up a beautiful edition with nice, big pages!
