Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Question re Minor Poison Potion - are you using just 1 for the entire battle (and it causes -2AP each turn), or is it 1 potion per turn?

For example with Reva's Hydra-Sloth battle - is only 1 minor poison potion used for that battle or 4 (1 for each turn)? I was a little unsure how to use it!

1 poison potion per head. I asked Kelly earlier if the poison affected the whole animal but she said no. :-(

Thanks everyone

It took a lot of planning. ---and lots of potions. LOL

message 3962: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments It's one potion for the battle but each head is a different battle.

Diane ~Firefly~ | 2438 comments I have a question on the dog training. Since the specific skills (Fetch, Attack, Tracking) require a Beginner Obedience certificate, does that mean any books read before completing the Beginner Obedience can't be used on those skills?

You can use books read before then but you can't do the training before getting the beginner obedience.

Thanks for all the hard work that you do to make this challenge stimulating and very enjoyable. Thanks too for all the work you did for The gladiator games.

I know that you're probably somewhat burned out, but any chance of a sneak peek at October?

I shall try to aim for it out tomorrow. I know I'm very behind :-/

Sorry, meant to answer this but wanted to on a computer where I could reference the exact text.

"For helping Ser Amanda shear her sheep you receive 1 warm horse rug which allows a horse to make one of your attacks an area of effect attack."

So for this one, during one hit your attack hits all the creatures currently up for the same damage. It's very much like an Area of Effect spell from RPG games.

Sorry -- Never played RPGS

Is the rug only avaiable for 1 turn per battle? Or can it be used for each turn.

message 3972: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Have I got this wrong in the second turn?

1 Acorn 100 -1 = 99
Hero attacks Queen Bee 16 +2 +2 pup +3 orb +2 horse +2 minor pp +3 damage +4 cat= 34 - 99 = 65
Swarm attacks 20 - 31 = 11

4 Minor Heal Potions 20 + 11 = 31
Hero attacks 1Drone 16 +2 +2 pup +3 orb +2 horse +2 minor pp +3 damage = 30 - 10 Drone Dead = Hero Balance = 20
1 Acorn 65 -1 = 64
Hero attacks Queen Bee 20 - 64 = 44
Swarm attacks 24 - 31 = 7

Or should it be:

1 Acorn 100 -1 = 99
Hero attacks Queen Bee 16 +2 +2 pup +3 orb +2 horse +2 minor pp +3 damage +4 cat= 34 - 99 = 65
Swarm attacks 20 - 31 = 11

4 Minor Heal Potions 20 + 11 = 31
Hero attacks 1Drone 16 +2 +2 pup +3 orb +2 horse +2 minor pp +3 damage = 30 - 10 Drone Dead
1 Acorn 65 -1 = 64
Hero attacks Queen Bee 30 - 64 = 34
Swarm attacks 24 - 31 = 7

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Reva wrote: "Is the rug only avaiable for 1 turn per battle? Or can it be used for each turn. "

Can only be used one turn.

message 3974: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments I'm not sure I'm following your examples. Let me post how I think a mock battle would go and see if that helps (or narrows down the question).

• The Swarm - The swarm is ruled by a Queen Bee. Every turn she will call upon her drones to assist her. The number of drones that come to her aid each turn is equal to the number of creatures currently attacking. (Example: Only Queen Bee, next round will have Queen Bee and 1 Drone. If there is a Queen Bee and 7 Drones, next round will have Queen Bee and 15 Drones (7+8)) Each round you may only attack one creature unless you are using area of attack abilities, then your attack hits all creatures currently in the battle.
Queen Bee: 20 Attack 100 Health
Drone Bee: 4 Attack 10 Health
Reward: 40 Experience, White Gem of Power

Example Hero: 35 Attack, 30 Health

Battle Starts:
Hero throws Acorn for -1 point => Queen Bee 99 Health
Hero attacks Queen Bee for 35 attack => Queen Bee 64 Health
Queen Bee attacks hero for 20 Attack => Hero 10 Health
Queen Bee calls Drone

Queen Bee + 1 Drone - Round 2
Hero quaffs healing potions => Hero 30 Health
Hero throws Acorn for -1 point => Queen Bee 63 Health
Hero attacks Queen Bee for 35 attack => Queen Bee 28 Health
Queen Bee attacks hero for 20 Attack => Hero 10 Health
Drone attacks hero for 4 Attack => Hero 6 Health
Queen Bee calls Drone

Queen Bee + 2 Drones - Round 3
Hero throws Acorn for -1 point => Queen Bee 27 Health
Hero activates rug
Hero attacks Queen Bee for 35 attack => Queen Bee Dead
Hero attacks Drone 1 for 35 attack => Drone 1 Dead
Hero attacks Drone 2 for 35 attack => Drone 2 Dead

Yay Hero

Not too much going on. Main craziness is I'm trying to potty train two kids... kids are nuts.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments With the October classifieds, I feel like I'm still playing GG! :D Though luckily I've slowed down quite a bit - reading 1 book a day was tiring! As much as I loved it, I'm glad to not push myself to finish books so quick.

Yay for no expiring quests! THANK YOU KELLY! I know what I need to focus on this month :P

I'm experiencing the reverse. My mom's got a degenerative muscle disease and was incontinent this morning on the way to the bathroom. I guess diapers are in her future. Sigh.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments For Essential Oils: Finding in text

Does it have to be "Rosemary oil" exactly or will simply finding "Rosemary" suffice?

On the list of essential oils is Cypress. So would the following qualify?

CYPRESS

"tops of the cypress trees"

Read a book with a cow to get some milk. - does it have to be an "important" cow, or can it just be one mentioned?

Can just be one mentioned but should be an actual cow not "she ate like a cow"

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments These monsters are so daunting!! I can't decide if I want to make my plan towards The Hydra (and picking which head to go for first.....) or the Jabberwockey. (I'm sure it will take me MANY months to attack any of them).

Is anyone else having trouble to pick their next major attack?

I think the one from this month might be easiest for you if you're willing to get the books to lower the attack.

The hydra took careful planning. Each head's attack points varied depending on your staff, your sword and what order of attack the head was placed. I set it up to have either of my weapons ready to increase strength but only did so after I engineered lower hydra attacks first when the size of the hydra attack was based upon the strength of my weapons.

message 4000: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Makes sense Reva. So I should be planning to kill the Hydra Lust before increasing my sword again. I think that's what I'll plan on first, and then go from there.
