I know you can't actually see it so just imagine me giving you the puppiest puppy eyes you have ever seen. Or kitten eyes if you aren't a dog person. Whatever.

But I will most definitely buy it from you if we ever get our caravan back!
I keep trying to find good ones and I just can't seem to do it!

Or try to pick some books from the Hugo or Nebula awards lists. There are good sci-fi books out there, they're just hard to find. Don't give up.

I know ..."
I love sci Fi is there anything you did like? Anything you absolutely hated?

Foundation (the whole series by Isaac Asimov
Dune (most of the series) by Frank Herbert
Robot Dreams (the Robot series) by Isaac Asimov
A Princess of Mars ( the Martian series) by Burroughs , Edgar Rice
Red Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson
The Golden Age of Science Fiction predicts tech changes by 30+ years or more
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
Ender's Game (series) by Orson Scott Card
Michael Crichton everything

Some of my favs:
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - outer space (humorous)
Redshirts - outer space (humorous, parody of Star Trek)
Ender's Game - outer space (military, the book is good, the author is a jerk)
2001: A Space Odyssey - outer space (hard sci-fi)
Rendezvous with Rama - outer space (hard sci-fi)
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress - Moon setting (hard sci-fi, A.I.)
The Forever War - outer space (military, space opera)
A.C. Clarke's books are usually set in outer space but his style is rather heavy-handed. He's a typical hard sci-fi author, great ideas and little character development.
Dune (the first three books) are a fantastic read, and the series usually tops lists of The best scifi for people who don't like sci-fi at all ;-) (but it's mostly planet bound)

Red Rising was also a good read, it's set on Mars though so it might not count for outer space.

Mars is fine for outer space. I'd say anything not on Earth counts.

Thanks, Kelly. That will makes this task so much easier. ;)

Yeah, I'll be working on it soon. Hopefully next few days.
my Quick! Lies! submission, shamelessly cadging from Reva's efforts
Rose had settled in well to her new job with Jordan, who had indeed proposed in no short order. Well, with that mind, figure, and way with his sons, can you blame him?!
The day of the wedding was fast approaching, and Rose went off for a [pre-wedding pamper / pre-wedding party*], leaving Jordan and the boys on their own for a weekend...
On her return, the house was still standing, but that's the only good thing that could be said.
"Blood Moon and Stars!" cursed Rose, surveying the destruction. "If we are to be Married by Monday, I want you to clear this House of Evidence of your slovenly ways!"
Suitably terrified by his fiancee's wrath, Jordan set the boys to work, tidying up everything, including sweeping a large amount of Sand**.
Rose surveyed their work, quietly pleased that she'd laid down the rules. Yes, this marriage would be a Utopia. For her at least!

I don't think that you can attack with 0 HP.

If the same goes for monsters it makes sense that it applies to heroes, too.

Just playing with numbers for my dragon's and realizing that with out my horse I need to level up my sword or get another health potion, or go to 0 for one round. I may be able to level up between two dragons though, so I'm looking into that too... so many options.

Does it need to be 100% set there or is it okay if they start on Earth but then go up to space?
Still riding the struggle bus trying to get through these ones. Never touching space fiction again after this.

The one I'm set to re- read for the third time is called

I would say that as long as a substantial part of the plot is set off-Earth, then the book is okay for the task.

Common sense tells me that when you're dead you can't drink any potions, Teresa. :p ;)
BTW What dragon are you planning to kill?

Your health does not go below 0. (Example: Hero Health 1, Monster attacks for 5, Hero Health is 0)."
I'm going to interpret this to say you can drink a health potion at 0 health but you can't launch an attack at 0 health.

Agreed.

I need to update my quest log and correct it.
Thanks ladies!

Also: According to the rules you can't go bellow 0. So let's say that I have 2 HPs and monster attacks me with 10 AP 2-10= -8 but I can't go bellow 0, so it means that I have 0 HPs. If I'm not dead and can drink a potion in this situation it is much more advantageous than doing it before the attack. Because now I can drink for instance a Minor Healing Potion and gain 5 HPs and attack the monster again. If I did it before the attack I would end up 2+5-10= -3, still 0, no attack.
If it's how it's supposed to be then I was foolishly wasting my healing potions.

Drat. People always coming up with loopholes.
The intent I had for the not going negative was that you couldn't keep attacking and get further and further into negative. I wasn't intending on people "dying" then reviving and continuing the attack.
How about we go with if you hit 0 HP you can heal and do another attack. Going below 0 HP would end the fight.
Unless anyone see's a problem with this, I'll update the rules tonight to reflect the clarification.

BTW Up until now I read the rules as "0 HP = end of the fight". So I never gained any "unlawful" HPs. Just to make it plain. :)

Kelly, now we're halfw way through Cure 1, can you possibly give us a preview of Treatment 2 so we can start with the planning. Pretty please. :)
hurrah! I have wrestled fiercely and a red dragon has succumbed to my might and cunning!
Wench! beer & stew all round!

Do you have any lesser dragons left or have you already slain them all?"
Thank you!
Just the Yellow one left. frankly it can wait, I'm in no hurry for the find items bonus.
And I've wiped out my big heart population and killed a troll too :) plus a drop bear & a bat to get some health back (taking advantage of my last day of damage potion!)
