I read this book in the summer of 2014, and I am almost certain it was published in 2014. The author I believe was a local author from my hometown of Springfield, MO and was a school teacher (I believe high school). For some reason, I have always been convinced it was called "Shift" or something similar, but I am not had much luck searching for it with that. The cover was white, with a purple shape/splotch/maybe object in the middle. I do not think there was ever a sequel, but clearly I lost track of it.

The book follows a teenage (14-15) girl who joins this secret school. At the school she is taught--and learns--how to see in the 4th dimension. She (and I assume the others at the school) use this to fight the bad guys (I do not remember their deal). But I always remember how interesting the description of how she saw in the 4th dimension was.

There was a romantic subplot between the girl and another student (male), but I do not think they "got together" by the end of the book and was more implied/teased that they would in the future. Or, they got together at the tail end of the book. For some reason I am now remembering that the girl is depicted as bigger or at least not thin. This was mentioned throughout the book.
