Christopher (christopherveach) | 2 comments I read this book in the 90s. It was an American novel written in English and seemed like it was probably a pulp fantasy novel. It was about people who lived in the world of dreams and a girl specifically who was learning to make dreams as an architect at a dream school. I believe the main character was very skilled at creating illusions out of light and color.

Christopher, is this book for kids, teens or adults? How old is the girl? (We need to add this to the header/topic title at the top of the page.)

Christopher (christopherveach) | 2 comments I believe she is a teen or young adult. I can't quite remember if the school she was in was a college or a high school, but I'm leaning towards college. I think the book was geared for teens/young adults but maybe not.

Here's the Google Books preview of School of Light by Jody Lynn Nye - Rainbowheart's suggestion:

https://books.google.com/books?id=MKZ...

Juele ... her greatest desire in all the Dreamland: the School of Light. ... An aspiring illusion artist such as she would naturally desire to go to the best school in the land, be instructed by the best teachers, and one day achieve great things, but the admission policy of the School board was stringent. You could apply only once in your lifetime.
