I recently launched my first book, called "Four Pillars: Building the Church in an Age of Decline". This is something that I felt compelled to write after hearing that three churches very dear to my heart had closed down over the last two years. Churches are struggling, shrinking, and shutting down. Now coronavirus is exacerbating the problem. What are Christians supposed to do? Do we cave to the culture? Do we look to the church growth gurus? Or do we turn to the Bible? It's important that we recall a wonderful promise that Christ has given us. He has said: "I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." This is not a maybe-so, hope-so statement. This is a rock-solid guarantee! So, the question is, "how" does Christ actually build His church? What is His "building plan"? What tools and materials does He use? Through a study of some surprising events in the Book of Acts, and by reflecting on some small-church experiences and big-church statistics, we discover the "four pillars" that Christ has placed at the core of His church building project. We see what it means for us to "be the church". And we renew our hope for the future of the church - and discover our place in it! As for me, I am a former pastor, trained at Toronto Baptist Seminary. I currently work in a national pro-life ministry, and continue to do itinerant preaching and teaching. I am happy to send out a limited number of free paperback copies of my book to those who would commit to read it and write a review on Amazon and share it with me (so I can share it with others).
