Someone mentioned the word germinate to me today and it triggered this memory. I think the book is anywhere between 10-15 years old. I am 26 years old now. Please help me!

Was it the 'Deadly!' series by Morris Gleitzman and Paul Jennings? I recall that series was about a bunch of people fighting over the seeds of a blue tea plant and was aimed at teenage readers.
