Maybe because Kim is the only person not taken in by her charms. And that leads Alex to research Kim and when she finds out her past she becomes even more fascinating to Alex. Kim becomes a puzzle that she has to solve.. and break.
Kim is a unique person. She's has worked for years to build the walls around her so people couldn't get close. It would be a major coup for Alex to turn Kim and use her.
Well, one thing was the challenge that Kim presented - one of the characteristics of sociopaths that is mentioned in the book is their desperate need to constantly be stimulated. I agree with Lisa, that Alex became more interested after discovering her past.
When Alex found out about Kim's past, her interest was piqued. She saw Kim as someone who would play a good game.
