An interesting thing about this book that I felt not many books had, was that it didn't include quotation marks. It was a gamble to figure out who was speaking and who wasn't.
It was a fiction novel that talked about two siblings who were very wealthyI believe the parents were very dismissive and didn't really care much about what the kids were doing. typically the narrator was the brother. It tackled themed like addiction, as there was drugs involved and lots of people sleeping around.
Two pivotal points in the novel I remember include:

1. It was towards the end of the novel, both siblings, the older brother and younger sister were in a pool, chilling and talking. The younger sister decides to be vulnerable and tells her brother that she has AIDS. as this happens, we cut to the narrator who's wondering how the heck his sister got aids (it recounts how she was the really pretty sibling, and him thinking about the then stereotypes of those with aids and how it's transmitted) and as they're in the pool, he thinks of all the things they shared as kids or as of recently? The narrator (brother) then tells his sister to not touch him.

2. The second is an exchange with a friend, who asks for money to pay for something, but wouldn't explain to the narrator what it was for. The narrator, kinda frustrated, was cool and gave them the money. Chapters later, the reader finds out that the money was used to pay for an abortion of the narrators then girlfriend or his ex? as the girlfriend was cheating on him with his best friend. I believe the friend then asked for forgiveness and the narrator was super pissed off.

3. Not necessarily pivotal, but this book had a lot of cussing in it, and definitely bordered on adult in terms of topics.

Amber, just to confirm, are you saying Exit Here. by Jason Myers is your book? The characters' dialog seems to be identified with quotation marks.

Is this book for teens or adults?

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5384 comments A review says, "For some reason the author also decided not to use quotation marks whenever Travis spoke. This made it confusing because sometimes it was hard to tell whether the character was speaking out loud or just thinking."
