And, I'm John. Retired from State of Georgia Behavioral Health but currently teaching psychology part time for a community college. I am currently ordained as an Episcopal deacon. I live near Augusta, GA. I have been an avid reader since a child. Although I have favorite genres, contemporary and historical fiction, I have read books from all genres. I generally read several books at one time. I'm currently reading Strangers on a Train, Mexican Gothic, and Troubled Blood.

I would say that mysteries (not cozys, though) and historical fiction are my favorite genres but I like to move from my comfort zone. This year I've tried to read more classics and non fiction.

Hi Ulyssicia! You must have a hard/stressful job at times - I can relate as an insurance adjuster. Reading is definitely a form of self care - but some books have been more enjoyable than others! Plus, if it's hard subject matter it can be somewhat stressful to me. :)

Hi everyone. I’m Angela, a retired research librarian . I live in upstate NY with my husband, who while doesn’t read as much as I do, supports my habit by having bought me every version of kindle that I’ve owned and many Amazon gift cards . Most of our family is in the area, so we are fortunate to see our grandchildren often (although not as much during these difficult times). My favorite genres are literary fiction - historical and contemporary. I occasionally read non fiction, dystopian and fantasy only once in a while but I’m not a reader of thrillers, mystery, or horror. I listen to audiobooks on occasion as well . I’ve always loved new releases so I enjoy the opportunity to read advance copies through NetGalley and Edelweiss, though it’s at the expense of the big pile of other books on my kindle and the pile by my bed 📚! I’ve written reviews for almost every book I’ve read since mid 2014 and I really enjoy it. I love being on Goodreads and interacting with others who love to read . Looking forward to connecting in this new group!

Hi Ann - sounds like a dream retirement to me. And I have to constantly mix what I read up - I don't want to go from the same to the same all the time otherwise I'll get mixed up and feel like I'm reading the same book over and over all of the time.

Hello! Thanks for the invitation. I'm a retired mom & grandma/oma. I love mysteries, historical fiction, non-fiction & enjoy a smattering of fantasy/paranormal, young adult & romance. My oldest son is developmentally disabled & lives with me. He receives home-based services & I serve as his personal support worker. I'm in decent health for my age except for mobility/joint issues & hope I'll have many more years with him & his friends, but we do have a plan in place for when I'm no longer able to take care of him. He loves to go to used book stores with me & peruse the shelves. I let him buy books even though he doesn't read them. That probably says more about my book-buying addiction than his. LOL I like to read paperbacks & ebooks mostly. Most hardbacks are difficult to hold now. I don't listen as much as I did when commuting. I've been a Special Olympics coach for 15 years & was ready to give it up, but I miss them all so much now that I can't see them that I plan to give it at least one more year when we can become active again. Well, I've rattled enough. Nice to 'meet' you all! Happy Reading!

Sally Dick and Jane! I think my first grade class was the last one in our school district to learn to read from those books. What a blast from the past!
I'm Jennifer. I was born in Texas, "raised" in Ohio, and "grew up" in Florida, where I've lived since 1977. I work in public safety and have been associated with it in one form or another for 35 years now. I have a degree in journalism and for some of those years was the editor of a magazine with a focus on public safety communications or, as it is more commonly thought of, 9-1-1. I have two thoroughly spoiled and beautiful cats, a terrific man, an obscene stock of kindle and audible books, and usually something (hopefully) good on the stove or in the oven.

Hello everyone! I'm Erin from Missouri, in the middle of the United States. I'm working from home at the moment, but my dog and my Mom are both enjoying having me home, so it works in the end for our odd little household. I've had a reading block for the first time ever, but normally I read a bit of everything. I prefer biography for nonfiction works and detective novels if I'm reading mysteries. Love fantasy over science fiction and MM is my favorite type of romance. In the end, if I find a good book, I take it home and love it and call it mine! Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Sally, Dick and Jane were also near/dear to my heart as well - and are still useful! My kids were introduced to them as well.

Hi Jim - welcome! Your last book sounds like it could be a clunker, and see it was written in 1910 - I'm sure the author thought there was plenty of problems back then, lol. 110 years later and you cannot make this stuff up. The book must have been decent for your 4-star rating. Any themes you see relevant to today?
