rory (rorybaskin378) | 92 comments I'm looking for a book that I read around 2017 and only remember a few details about. One is that the main character has a pajama shirt with four buttons. She has named the buttons Eenie, Meenie, Miney, and Moe. Moe might have fallen off. Another detail is that at some point in the story, she gets a popsicle and thinks about how some people might be afraid of popsicles. She realizes that in their minds, she would be brave for eating the popsicle. And the last detail is that she has a teenaged girl as a neighbor who is named Crystal or Jewel or something, and she looks up to this girl. I know that it is a children's, book, but I'm afraid I might just be combining random details from several different stories to come up with this random plot. Please help! Thank you.

Paige | 805 comments Button book sounds like:Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons
The rest of it sounds like:Hound Dog True
There may be four buttons named eenie meanie miney mo in that one as well. The cover looks promising.

rory (rorybaskin378) | 92 comments It's definitely not Pete the Cat, it is more of a book for 8-10 year olds, if I were to put an age to it. The title Hound Dog True sounds very familiar, but I'm not sure

There's a button named Moe that gets lost in the laundry mentioned in Barbara's review on page 2 of the reviews.

Rainbowheart | 28692 comments Paige is definitely right. Hound Dog True is a perfect match.

"Mattie pulls her pajamas on, which she can do in the dark. She does not need to see her pajamas. She knows they are pale green with skinny stripes on them, and that the top has three little mouse-shaped buttons. Eenie, Meenie, and Miney. The last button hole stays empty. Moe is long lost."

Caroline, is this a children's novel/chapter book, not a picture book?

Paige and Rainbowheart's suggestion sounds like your book. Here are Google Books previews of - Hound Dog True by Linda Urban:
