Voting is open for April-June 2021 rereads!"
It feels wrong to vote with no limit. {Looks around nervously}
Should there be a limit, even if it's very high like 20 or 25?
What does it do to the results when voters can spread votes broadly, are there pros / cons?
What if there were bad players who voted for every book then hit Submit?
"I'm just asking questions for my constituents"
🧐😅

Everyone voting is not going to vote for everything, so a top six will always emerge 😊 The point is to find the ones most people would read, so it’s absolutely fine to vote for every single one if you’d be happy to read any of them 😄Looking at the votes, many only vote for a couple of books. I suspect they’re the ones who’ve been around long enough to have read most of the ones they want to read.
It means nothing this early, but I have to share what the top six looks like right now :D9 Wild Seed (320 pgs)
8 Dawn (248 pgs)
7 Jade City (498 pgs)
7 The Ocean at the End of the Lane (178 pgs)
7 Parable of the Sower (345 pgs)
6 Kindred (264 pgs)
That's four Butlers!
LOL! I've read all 6. I'm not voting this time since I didn't manage to read the last months' choices
Ah, I missed there's a new vote! Good, I'm about to vote then. I'm only voting for 1 on the top 6 (Jade City) - I've read a lot of Octavia Butler's work already. I'm missing some, but they're not "books I intend to read soon" so I'm following the script ;)
Bonnie wrote: What if there were bad players who voted for every book then hit Submit?"
Then their entire voting roster would basically be a null vote, as it wouldn't change anything!
I always like when people advocate for the books they want because you know you'll likely have people to read with. Also, sometimes I just skip over something and I'll go back and vote for it when it is brought to my attention.
I'm so happy to see Octavia Butler at the top. It's one of these authors that I keep wanting to read, but shiny new books keep distracting me. I hope for Parable of the Sower to be in the top 6 by the end of the voting, because I own a physical copy, but I'll participate in any buddy read of this author.
I've read Dawn, but was hoping to read more Butler soon. I voted for Parable, too :) I can be persuaded to read Jade City :) -adds a vote-
Ocean at the End of the Lane is also on my TBR for this year.

thanks Stephanie and Bonnie!
Jade City's last book is coming out this year (CMIIW) and there will be an adaptation too so I'd like to give the series another try ^_^
BTW since it looks like "Wild Seed" is top of the heap, for people who have Amazon Prime and do ebooks, Wild Seed is now in Amazon Prime. Go put your copy in the Amazon Prime Reading bucket (up to ten at a time) now!Prime Reading:

This month I'm going to read both, so I'm going to start with "The Man in the High Castle" today.

I'm planning to read Man in the High Castle as well. Probably starting towards the weekend.

Ellen wrote: "The Lies of Locke Lamora is long and this is a short month so I went ahead and started it."That's why I decided to start with the shorter one. I hope I can squeeze "Sixteen Ways to Defend the Walled City" before the end of the month.

And the Calculating Stars! LOL, those are the 2 books that I have on my owned books TBR. I would love for an excuse to read them sooner rather than later.

DivaDiane wrote: "And the Calculating Stars! LOL, those are the 2 books that I have on my owned books TBR. Two hundred years ago we wouldn't even know how to read, much less be able to afford multiple books. We would be tenants living in a hut and working on a farm. These are first-world (air-quote) "problems" and we are pathetic, no doubt about it!!!!!!

Thanks Ryan, I didn't realize that Michelle hadn't voted, as I can't see who has or hasn't voted on the Google form. It didn't even occur to me that's what was happening! Sorry! :D
