Glad I'm not alone. I went in thinking I was going to really like it. Makes the disappointment feel even worse somehow.. ;)

Kira (kirajessup) | 234 comments I'm going to red Red Queen by Honey Brown for this challenge.

Renee V | 236 comments I've finished Station Eleven and have started reading A Canticle for Leibowitz Which was my original choice, Station Eleven was a bonus one :)

message 154: by Kim Marie (new)

Kim Marie | 894 comments I'm hoping that Insurgent 2 ★ suffered from "middle book syndrome" because the main character could have given Bella a run for her money in terms of angst. Allegiant will need to offer a much better storyline.

Thanks for the warning :) I'm not holding any high expectations for the final book.

Visible Procrastinations | 24 comments Annihilation (Southern Reach, #1) by Jeff VanderMeer I read Jeff VanderMeer's Annihilation ★★★★
Although definitely Dystopian, I’m still not too sure about this being SF or being Horror. Weird, creepy, unsettling … was our narrator really there or was this all a thought experiment?

message 158: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I finished Dualed by Elsie Chapman. One down. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Dualed (Dualed, #1) by Elsie Chapman

This is such a strange book! I did really love it (because of how it was written) but it really is an odd one.

message 166: by Ryan (last edited Feb 19, 2015 01:34AM) (new)

Ryan Well I finished 1984 and even wrote a review. It was tough finding a Friends character to match the protagonist.

Next up is Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash.

Nearly forgot to say I finished my second too. The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin

Kira (kirajessup) | 234 comments Finished Red Queen by Honey Brown. Gripping read and turns the genre on it's head by turning into a story about the relationships and what lengths people will go to. Couldn't put it down.

The whole series was excellent Brenda - glad you enjoyed them as much as I did :)

She has a new one coming out soon The Hush - but the blurb is not lighting my fire, so will see how the reviews go before I commit

message 176: by Ryan (new)

Ryan So I finished Snow Crash. So disappointing.

Next up is The Windup Girl.

Kim Marie | 894 comments Okay, I'm done...the weird logic and behaviour from Beatrice Prior and her cohorts in Allegiant was no better than in the previous book (so it still rates 2 ★) but at least I know how the series ends. Anyone planning to see the movie version?

Amber (ukaunz) Well I finally dragged myself to the end of Shift by Hugh Howey. ★★ Blah.

message 187: by Stef (last edited Feb 25, 2015 04:57AM) (new)

Stef Rozitis I read Wool Omnibus Edition (Silo, #1; Wool, #1-5) by Hugh Howey I found it tough, heavy going at first (as I suppose dystopia ought to be) but it was worth persisting for the over 500 pages. Especially if you (like me) like to read about kick-arse females that dont need to hide behind their boyfriend.

message 188: by Renee V (new)

I really liked Wool. That's why I'm so disappointed in Shift. Not sure if I'll bother to read Dust now.

message 195: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Well I didn't get The Windup Girl finished before the end of the month. It started so well but began to drag toward the middle. And I have been very busy. That's why it's such a shame that I had all last weekend to myself and spent it reading such a terrible book.

Anyway, The Windup Girl is quite good, and I hope to have it finished today or tomorrow.

Carolyn | 9836 comments Just managed to sneak in a second book, finishing late last night - A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr. 4★.

I'd been wanting to read this classic for a long time so am pleased I got round to it and enjoyed it.

message 198: by FrenzieMcKenzie (new)

FrenzieMcKenzie | 50 comments Sad to say I didn't make it very far into The Peripheral. I've been sick for a lot of this month. I always revert to fantasy or romance escapism when I feel bad and there's just not a lot of dystopia in romance :) I will keep reading it though.

message 199: by FrenzieMcKenzie (new)

I agree with you Ryan, about it dragging in the middle. By the end I found it such a powerful and moving book that after I finished it I couldn't face reading anything for a couple of weeks.

message 200: by Katie (new)

Katie Mineeff | 59 comments I ended up reading a few good books in this challenge and will be eagerly awaiting the next books published in the series I started!
Admission
Deception
The Last Girl
The Last Shot
