Some (maybe most) of Alexander McCall Smith's books were written as episodic pieces in the newspapers. I have been following the Bertie books which were all written as separate pieces.

Yes, that's an annual option for everyone. This group is very much a "it's your challenge, you make your own rules" kind of place. You can interpret prompts however you want, and apply a wildcard or not. (I never use a wildcard, but I know some people insert a wildcard annually).

Maybe instead of the state you could focus on the village/town/city where you grew up. That would narrow things down, I would think.

- a book with a fat-positive perspective: I will most likely read Thick: And Other Essays or [book:..."
Interesting. Thick:... was one of my favorite reads this year and I highly recommend it. That said, it wouldn't occur to me to think of it as a fat-positive book. "
I see what you mean. Based on what I've read about the book, I think while the overall theme isn't about body/fat-positivity, I think that it might work from the perspective angle. I'm reading it next year regardless, so I'll see how I feel about the fit after I read it. (if this prompt makes it in)

In a similar vain to Tressie McMillan, Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxane Gay is most definitely a fat-positive book.

I like prompts that have to deal with the reader's interpretation of the book, so I voted for a book that elicits humor!
As far as 2021-related prompts, I voted for Year of the Ox since I wanted more 2021-related prompts, and this one was concise and to the point, unlike the other ox prompt that was submitted earlier. I think 2021 Pantone Color of the year is really cool, but I still would use it the same way as monochromatic cover, so I couldn't vote for it. I also dislike the inclusion of 2020 in there as well.

I can’t see a vote in this week’s poll from you Irene, but the poll is still open so you can go ahead and vote now. :-)

Thank you!!!! Just voted :)
Got it, Irene!
(This is why I vote first before I open the polls. If I waited, I would definitely be snooping on what everyone else was voting and alter my votes accordingly.)

Same. i also don't like ignoring my gut so I vote quickly. I really hope a good number ge through this time> I have only done for and I'm already getting voter fatigue

I voted on the first day this time, and now I remember why I don’t do that very often. I feel like I voted a month ago and still have another whole day before we get results! I am definitely more impatient waiting for results after I vote, so I think it’s best for me to mull over my options, read the discussion, and vote on the last day of voting. That way, I vote and then, voila, the next day we have results! 😁

Every week has seemed longer than the previous week. On the other hand I wish the whole thing would slow down because I'm not ready for it be over. I love this whole process so much. It really pulls the group together in a way nothing else does.

Yep I agree!!

I also love taking the list and picking books for it. I try to restrict myself to 10 books at a time, but...
