Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Oh, Kerri, you won't even set the alarm for something as important as winning a Toppler? How disappointing! :D

Well, for me it starts at 6 p.m. saturday evening, but I won't be reading till 3 a.m. either(I think...). ;)

Happy reading everyone and may the beCt team win!

message 302: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Starts for me at 9 AM on Saturday :-) a good time to start, I definitely will not be reading at 3 AM! Good luck to all! Is there a prize if we win?

message 303: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments It starts at noon for me so I plan to spend the morning reading the book I'm currently reading.

message 304: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Start time for me is 11 am. Lots of good reading time for me this toppler. Got my queue of books lined up : )

I think I'm a faster reader in general since becoming a member of YLTO. Anybody else experience this?

But I like having the flexibility of varying my reading pace. Beginnings typically go more slowly while getting acquainted with the book.

message 305: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Anyone know what time it starts in the UK? I've been getting confused because I thought it started on Monday, but I'm thinking it starts on Saturday now.

message 306: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments 5 pm Saturday, Gail, is your start time in UK - I believe. 5 pm in UK is equivalent to noon in NYC.

Basing this on looking up that it's currently 9:30 pm in New York City (EST in US). It's 2:30 am in UK so that's 5 hours later.

The toppler start times have remained constant in my experience thus far for past two years. That makes your start time same as last time for you and everyone - as long as they haven't moved to a different time zone.

message 307: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Thanks, TJ. :-)

message 308: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Go to sleep Gail! :)

message 309: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Haha, I did go to sleep.

I get the feeling Azalea might not turn up. She only posted once saying she had no idea what a Toppler was but wanted to join, and hasn't posted since.

message 310: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Yes, probably she got lost. There's other group waiting for a member to appear I think.

message 311: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Yes it starts today at 5pm in the UK Gail.

Paakhi Srivastava (pankh) | 199 comments Yayyie!! It will start at 10:30 pm in India..so excited!

message 313: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Will you stay up late, so you can start reading, Paakhi? Or will you just start on sunday?

Yes, Gail, you can start 5 pm, I can start 6 pm (just 1 hour of North Sea between us ;)...). Yes, a whole evening of sitting on the couch with (hopefully) a good book!
Too bad I can't put the kids to bed at 5 pm! :D

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Rusalka wrote: "Change the clocks Elsbeth. They won't know ;)"

I'm afraid they will know! They usually go to sleep around 8 pm - at 5 it is not dark yet. Maybe I'll just say to my husband: 'your turn to put the kids to bed this week!'.
;)

message 318: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments You all are ahead of me timewise, I believe. Your kids go to sleep at 8 PM, must be nice. My kids go to sleep much later, but they are too old for me to have to put them to bed :-) starting today at nine a M ;-)I just go in my room and pretend no one else is here!

message 319: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Oh Elsbeth, if your husband is like mine that only means they'll go to bed at 10pm!

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Sandra wrote: "Oh Elsbeth, if your husband is like mine that only means they'll go to bed at 10pm!"

Probably :D! Or maybe not - he usually wants to do things at his computer at night - and in the daytime there sometimes is a kid playing games there...

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Oh, Sandra, I only now noticed your picture! So beautiful and cute! I used to have a stuffed doll like that!

Marie Claude (mariecg2001) | 1030 comments Just begun Ready Player One. Hope to finish it before dinner time. Don't have to cook since dS decided to cook for us tonight. Nice!

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments I'm starting now!

message 330: by Elsbeth (last edited Feb 07, 2015 12:26PM) (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Oh, great, I started my book for the bonus task (Worse than Senseless Things for 'alien world or space ship') and I didn't like it! So I stopped reading right away and started something else (Brides for Brothers by Debbie Macomber which is only 187 pages). Now I only have to see for which task it can be used.

So if there is someone else with a book about 'a alien world or aboard a spaceship' - you are welcome to the task. If not, I'll find something else (I have more books lined up which could be read for this - so don't worry!)

message 331: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I'm reading Scarlet, part of it takes place in an alien world, I believe. Almost done with my first book The Giver, hoping to finish it before my son's birthday party tonight:-) And good luck to all!

message 332: by Elsbeth (last edited Feb 07, 2015 01:03PM) (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Congratulations, Berit! How old is he? Have fun tonight!

message 333: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments He is 12, I also have an 18-year-old son and a 17-year-old daughter. So, he is my baby :-)

message 334: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I guess he always will be ;). That is a bit how I see my daughter (she's almost 6 and my son is almost 9 - both have their birthday in March).

message 335: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Those are fun ages, although I think I've enjoyed every age in some way or another. It is very fun seeing your children become little adults.

message 336: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Yes it is! But sometimes I wish I wouldn't go so fast! Time flies when you're having fun...

message 337: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I completely agree :-) my oldest is going off to college next year, but he is definitely ready to be on his own. He is one of those who thinks he knows everything and has it all figured out, can't wait for him to come to me and say I was right :-) ;-)

message 338: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I finished The Giver, will report it in the other thread. Off to the birthday party, plan on starting another book tonight. Hope all of you are doing well and having a good time!

message 339: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Wow, that is fast, Berit! Have fun!

message 340: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 228 comments Just started reading How I Live Now. It's going to be a challenge to get through I think, even if it's a good book because there are no quotations used, and I really hate that.

message 341: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Sorry that I am late checking in, but I have been reading Esperanza Rising and Nemesis this afternoon.

I think I'll go to bed and start The Fifth Woman.

message 345: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I've been reading Still Life, but won't finish it until tomorrow. I had to go to the symphony tonight. We have season tickets. I thought about pretending I had a sinus headache, but it just seemed wrong. Consciences certainly are pesky things ; )

message 346: by Kerri (new)

Kerri I finished my first book Letters to My Daughter's Killer about to start on my next one.

I hope you enjoyed the performance, TJ. A night at the symphony is so relaxing and fun for me-- hope it reinvigorated you.

message 349: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I can add another book. I can take Mickey and Minnie Mouse: Read a book where an animal is a main character.
I'll read We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves.

message 350: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Connie, how do you read so fast? Is there a trick to it? I'd love to read that fast.
