Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments If I'm understanding correctly, the list of titles read by our team is available for us to compose a sort of poem that describes our mystery date. It can be funny or serious. I don't think we have to use all the titles we read, but those are the ones available to us. Make sense?

Kerri I thought it was using the pictures off the book covers?

message 553: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I think it is the cover thing we need to make a date from bookcovers using head, eyes, torso, shoes. I think that's right I will go reread it right now.

message 554: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments We need a creative and technical mind to come up with a good-looking date :-) any volunteers?

message 555: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Are these all the bookcovers we can use for building our Mystery Date? (I probably missed some...):

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Play It as It Lays by Joan Didion
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

Berit | 641 comments I am under the understanding we can use any cover of any books that we read during the week.

message 557: by Ava Catherine (last edited Feb 14, 2015 02:10PM) (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments could use

Gathering Blue (The Giver Quartet, #2) by Lois Lowry

The Fifth Woman (Wallander, #6) by Henning Mankell

The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry

message 558: by Elsbeth (last edited Feb 14, 2015 02:09PM) (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Lady Chatterly's Lover was already on my list (the second from below) - but I like your version better. ;)

message 559: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Honestly I do not know how to manipulate the covers into any kind of order, otherwise I would try.

message 560: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I looks like our Mystery Date is a woman!

message 561: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments yes, I just realized that and removed it from my list.

message 562: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Hey whatever works :-)

message 563: by Elsbeth (last edited Feb 14, 2015 02:12PM) (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments The Undertaking by Audrey Magee
Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

What do you think? :)
Is she mysterious, or what?

message 564: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Perfect!! Nice job :-)what is her job?

message 565: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Librarian, I guess...
;)

message 566: by Ava Catherine (last edited Feb 14, 2015 02:19PM) (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Do we need to give her some eyes? or let her remain behind the veil? We have the eyes in Never Let Me Go if we need them.

I like her.

message 567: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments For eyes who could also use I Am Malala The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai .
But I thought this one was more mysterious. But than again, maybe at this point the Mystery Date should NOT be a mystery anymore...

message 568: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I like the eyes, too. I think we need eyes and shoes. Looking at the directions again, it says that the date is not complete without all the elements.

message 569: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I think I like her still being a mystery, kind of goes with the whole theme of the whole week, right? Am I to believe there's some kind of voting going on after this?

message 570: by Ava Catherine (last edited Feb 14, 2015 02:29PM) (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Jmom will decide which team wins and that team gets 25 bonus points.
I like the mystery, but I think we need to follow the rules. It will not hurt to include eyes and shoes. Just my opinion. I think will be penalized for not following the rules

message 571: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I think you're right Connie, we do need eyes and shoes. This is all getting very complicated :-)I did however like the veil.

message 572: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments In the Mystery Date Bonus thread I can't see anything about including all the elements. Was it somewhere else?

It does say we can enter more than once. So we can create more?

message 573: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Maybe we should do that one with the veil one with eyes and shoes then all of our bases are covered

message 574: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I know. I agree that it is more pleasing for us, but we need to follow the guidelines. The veil is so nice, isn't it?

The red heels in The Death We Share are very sexy though. What does everyone think about them on our date? or do you have something else in mind?

message 575: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I think if we can submit more than one then let's go with it, they all are fabulous. I'm going to go and read the directions one more time.

message 576: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I reread the directions, I think we do need to use all four body parts to complete that section. We can submit more than one entry, so if we have more than one all the better :-)

message 577: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I know I read that somewhere, but I can't find it now. I'll just ask Jmom to be sure.

message 578: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I think I read it too, but it is probably a good idea to ask ;-) I'm going to take a nap I stayed up all night reading, and I am very tired. I have no kids here so it's nice and peaceful. I'll check on you guys when I wake up :-)

message 579: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I have submitted a question to Jmom about this ruling under the Questions and Rulings thread. I am going to be away from my laptop for a while, so you may want to check the thread and see what she says about this question.

I know you will create very lovely and mysterious dates for our team.
: )

message 580: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Okay, I'm getting it now. Sounds like you guys have this covered.

Meanwhile, I did a "spine poem" since that appeals to me. No extra points, but maybe it will inspire you all to create wonderful mystery dates from the cover art : )

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Wow TJ! I smell a gift there!

message 583: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments The cover collage looks great to me. Let's see what Jmom rules about the number or covers we need.
I think we are suppose to do a thread to post it.

message 584: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments That was really really cute,TJ :-)

message 585: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments eyes, A torso, legs, and shoes. I think one of those was put together already, then I think we need to put it in some kind of thread, how all this is done is way beyond the scope of my knowledge ;-)also if we feel like it we can submit more than one entry, when all this needs to be done, I am not sure. I give my improve my approval on every and all entry. I have faith you guys will come up with something amazingWell the ruling as in we need to use five book covers, including all five body parts listed in that section, to create a mystery date.:-) So, we need a head,

message 586: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Somehow my above post got flipped basically we need to use the five body parts to create one mystery date. We can do this as many times as we want. Good luck to whoever chooses to do this, I would volunteer, but I have no clue how to do that.

message 587: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments TJ I saw your question, I think you are the perfect choice to do this. You seem to have a very creative neck :-) I liked your pome especially. Also thanks again for stepping in and organizing us:-) Happy Valentines Day!

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Berit wrote: "Hey whatever works :-)"

I like the way you think!

message 589: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments LOL, well if I'm not good at something I am definitely not going to tell anyone else how to do it. Creativity is definitely not my strong suit, so whatever you guys come up with is in my opinion perfect.

message 590: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Happy Valentines Day, bare it!
