Berit | 641 comments Thanks Connie, I will not read any reviews.it looks like a really good read, I believe it is in my wish list somewhere ;-) Pigs, I can't say I've ever been anywhere too close to a pig. But they sure are cute :-)

Kerri I should finish my fourth book today sometime, and may be able to fit in another. Is there anything that needs covering or can I just read whatever I want to?
Love all the fluffiness going on here :)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I'm wondering if we have South America covered.

Tanita, we have you down for The Lighthouse at the End of the World set in South America. How's your reading going? Check in please if you have time. Thanks!

My nonfiction book is set in Chile, South America, if we need to switch it to the South America slot.
The title is Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine, and the Miracle That Set Them Free.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments My historical fiction is set in Brazil. It can be switched too.
Title: Snow Hunters. (sorry, I'm in the app)

message 508: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Yay! Looks like we'll have all the bonus point tasks done :-) if it doesn't matter about the other tasks, I'll try to read two more books after the book I am reading right now. My goal was 10, but it looks like I will only get to nine ;-) it has been fun seeing how many books I could possibly read in one week! I am amazed at how many books some of you guys have read!

message 509: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Good to know we have the backup on the South America front.

I finished my next 2 books. Going to report.

message 510: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments I'm a little behind with my third book, I am Malala, for the "head/face in the cover" task, but I expect to finish it tonight. From 3 pm on I'm suppose to have plenty of free time to read. Finger crossed!

message 511: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Sandra, we can use The Giver, for the head if needed, so no stress.:-) I think I have learned for next Toppler, you pick books that are short and not too deep wink

message 512: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments 9 books, Berit? That is wonderful! I know there are people who read even more, but I think most of us are happy with 3, 4 or 5!
I just finished my 5th book! Yay, me! :D
I've started the 6th, but am not sure if I will make it... When I don't spend too much time behind the computer, chatting with you all, I can read a lot tonight. But tomorrow I only have time during breakfast, lunch en about half an hour after my work (I have to work from 9 am till about 5.15 pm - and for me the Toppler ends at 6 pm).
I'll see how far I will get...!

message 513: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments We are doing great! How did you like Vampire Academy? I have wanted to read that for a very long time.. If we need a vampire interaction I can read one for that tonight. I have all night reserved to read. Going to lunch with my mom and my daughter and a little shopping, then coming home and camping out and reading and reading and reading ;-)

message 514: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I loved it, Berit! So I started part 2 right away (hoping to finish it in time)! I have it from the library (since it is YA, I can borrow it for free on my children's card ;)...) - it is a book with the first 3 parts in it.
Have fun with your 'girls-afternoon'! ;)
How old is your daughter? Mine is a bit too young to enjoy a shopping-afternoon (she will be 6 in a month). My children have now a week holiday. I still have to work, so they will stay at my parents for a few days. My parents are really looking forward to that! They are probably a bit lonely... My sister, who lives in Bolivia; South America, has been staying with them (off and on) for 2 months - they left for Bolivia again 2 weeks ago. She has 4 children, so it was a busy time for my parents - but they enjoyed it a lot!!! And now we all miss them! So my parents need the company of their other 2 grandchildren! ;)
So, on Wednesday, my husband and I will probably go out to diner, just the 2 of us!

message 515: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments My daughter is 17, and is always up for a shopping trip..good to know about the Vampire Academy books, I need to read those. My kids had this week off, they do not go back to school until Tuesday, it has been nice :-) aren't grandparents the absolute best ;-) I am so grateful, My parents live so close to me.

message 516: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Well, I'm home from shopping :-) going to enter the world of the young adults and try to finish up these two books :-) will report in the morning.

message 517: by Ava Catherine (last edited Feb 13, 2015 09:33PM) (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I have finished a humorous book But Mama Always Put Vodka in Her Sangria!: Adventures in Eating, Drinking, and Making Merry,
a dystopian novel Gathering Blue,
a biography Darwin, His Daughter, and Human Evolution,
nonfiction Howards End Is on the Landing: A Year of Reading from Home,
and a book that is part of a series Sidetracked.

Glad you and your daughter had so much fun shopping today, Berit! : )

message 518: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Connie, I am so impressed, I have to say ;-) yes, we had a good time shopping needed to get a Valentines gift for her boyfriend. I am starting my last book will either stay up and finishor get up early.

message 519: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I am done with my ninth and final book :-) I want you all to know I truly enjoyed my very first Toppler, there were a few bumps, but all in all it was a very enjoyable experience. I liked most of the books I read and I think I learned a few things about myself.. Looking forward to participating in many more of these poplars :-) I am curious to see how we ended up doing. I think everyone did an amazing job and everyone helped out the team immensely, thank you.

message 520: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I edited that Popular to Toppler, and then it posted as A popular :-( this app can be a little wacky! Enjoy your Valentine's Day

Now you have to read Messenger and Son. I absolutely loved The Giver Quartet!

message 522: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Thanks for the recommendation, Jaxnsmom! I have the last two on my tbr

I have finished a horror book The Haunting of Hill House.

message 524: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Sounds too scary!! My imagination doesn't need extra encouragement.

I've updated the spreadsheet thru msg 185 in the reporting thread.

Not certain about the scoring. I know it's a flat 10 pts per book and 25 pts for the bonus tasks, right?

So the books for Body bonus get counted first as 10 pts for each one completed and then additionally 25 pts since we fulfilled the bonus task?

message 525: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I think in one of the sections for bonus points you get 30 points for completing all the tasks. I believe it is hobbies, but not 100% sure. I think we did an amazing job! Thanks to all again :-)

TJ, thank you for all the work on the spreadsheet! You are an angel! : )

Will you check the box for YA in my list? It is highlighted, but I cannot see the title of the book I read Esperanza Rising. I just want to check that it is on the master spreadsheet. Thank you so much.

I have We Have Always Lived in the Castle coming up. I would have read it for the toppler but the page length was too short. I don't think I've read any of her other books.

Paakhi Srivastava (pankh) | 199 comments Hey TJ and Gail thank you for helping with the spread sheet and high five to the great team members..it was great reading week!!

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Life Among the Savages is hilarious and oh so good!

The Lottery and Other Stories is a great book. The Lottery is a horror story, but it creeps up on you in an unexpected way.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle is a great book. I think you will really enjoy it.

Hmm, a little weird. Fixed it. 10 more pts too since I hadn't counted any for that one yet.

message 532: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Connie, the blip above happened when I was entering the second book for you at 27, D, Hadrian & Royce.

I'm going to double check that there wasn't anything else messed up then. I don't think there was.

message 533: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Thanks. Glad we caught it. : )

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments That's also what I love about these Team-Topplers! All the chatting and getting to now some of you better!

And I agree, we were very lucky to have Gail & Tejas Janet in our team! Thank you both for organizing us!

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Berit wrote: "I am done with my ninth and final book..."

Berit, I'm counting 10 in the spreadsheet for you. Do we have you down for one book too many? Or did you read one more book than you're counting?

message 537: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments The spreadsheet is right I did read 10 :-) that was my goal and I reached it I didn't realize that, thanksTJ ! I had noticed my reading challenge had jumped 10 books, not quite sure which one I wasn't counting, but that really doesn't matter.

That's so cool Berit..it's like reading at the speed of light.. in awe of you and Connie :)

message 541: by Kerri (new)

Kerri I have to say I have found some of Berit's autocorrected posts very amusing,

message 542: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments That is what I'm here for comic relief :-) it even switches my own name, sometimes I go and try to edit and it still comes out odd. I should probablyD activated, but I cannot spell and I really don't know how to do that anyways ;-)

message 543: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I have worked as a group exercise instructor for the past 20 years, and that does not require me to type or spell, thankfully. It has been a long time since I needed to write a paper for college and I usually paid someone to do that for me. It is amazing how well my kids can't type because of being online and texting all the time. I feel as though there is only room for improvement, right?

Giggling Cherub Boy from AnimateIt.net

Thanks y'all. I was glad I could help out. G's spreadsheet made it pretty straight forward to track so thanks again for that, Gail.

message 550: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Okay yes I found where it says about the bonus points. We need to put our book covers together to create what our mystery date looks like. So, those of you that are good at this technical stuff have at it ;-)
