I love me some alliteration! Sounds good to me :-) I'm looking forward to finding out what this toppler entails, I haven't missed an announcement somewhere have I??

message 4: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Hi Team C. I suppose if it's about mystery dates, we could be the Clandestine Courters. Or we could be the Cryptic Courters. Or the Cryptic Conquerors, if we want to also indicate our intentions to win! :D

message 5: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments EstaAmelia, I haven't found the instructions yet. I think they are coming later.

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Hi everyone! I like the Cryptic Conquerors (since, obviously, we are going for the win).
I like yours as well, Tejas Janet!

message 12: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I like the Cryptic Conquerors - but sorry - feels like something missing to me.

What about the Captivating Cryptic Conquerors? Has 3 Cs, and C is the 3rd letter of the alphabet. Seems like good number mojo for Team C.

message 13: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Or not... Cryptic Conquerors is very good!

message 22: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Okay, I gave us the name:
Captivating Cryptic Conquerors

I like it!

message 23: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Anybody else out there speculating about this toppler?

"Mystery date" - could mean reading books from the mystery genre - but topplers are usually broader than this.

Might mean picking books for each other - but that could get sticky, like if you couldn't get a hold of the book(s) selected for you.

OR maybe we'll have dates in time we have to work with and read books relevant to those dates - ?? :)

message 24: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I have no idea. But I guess it is not all from the mystery genre, since not everyone likes that. Maybe you have to pick dates (like numbers) and it is a mystery what you will be reading - you'll get assigned something?

message 25: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Jan 19, 2015 11:48AM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Maybe something to do with the Mystery Date board game rules? I remember (only because of the advertisement in youtube) that you were suppose to got cards (3 cards?) of a matching outfit before opening the door to find your date. Maybe the books we are going to read have to match in some way?

Possible...

I am looking forward to this Toppler. This is going to be my second one and I do not have a clue whats it about.
Love the team name

Hi Tanita!
This is my third. I don't have a clue, either. But, like you, I'm looking forward to finding out!
And, you know, Gail is part of our team. She is wonderful with spread sheets and organizing things! (She was on my team in October - we came in 2nd!)

message 29: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Janice is so creative that there is no way to figure out what she might have planned for us. We just have to hang on and see what is coming!
: ) We will have lots of fun trying to work it all out!!

That would be jaxnsmom. :) She designs the Topplers.

message 32: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Ah, I like the addition of 'captivating' - that adds the romance angle of a mystery date.

message 33: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Hehe, I can do the spreadsheet again if you like. Do we know the rules yet? I wasn't online yesterday so will have to catch up and see what I missed.

message 34: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Jan 20, 2015 02:00AM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Nope. You'll know when they appear. Probably in a bit over a week.
Maybe.
If Jmom feels like it.

Point is, they'll appear when you need them to appear not before.

message 35: by Elsbeth (last edited Jan 20, 2015 02:05AM) (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments And yes, please could you do those amazing spreadsheets again?! ;)

I just realized we have the number 2 from the October Toppler Top Readers among us: Connie read 17 books in that week! (that doesn' t mean we expect you to read just as many this Toppler, some weeks are better than others, but it would be great ;) ...)

(no, I didn' t remeber what everyone read then, I just saved the statistics Dawn made)

message 36: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Sounds like you have been dubbed the Spreadsheet Queen, Gail.

We are all dying in expectation!

message 42: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Well, I've been peeking at the other teams and apparently we need cheerleaders, to keep up team spirit and help us win! :D

What am I thinking? Of course, I meant to say Jaxnsmom is in charge of the Topplers and keeps us on our toes! I promise I have not been tippling--yet!! ha ha!!

Topplers and tippling always seem to go hand in hand, but I am just having a brain freeze.

message 44: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Wow, this will be my fifth team toppler! Always very fun : )

I generally manage 3 to 6 books in the week-long topplers, but going into a toppler I try to be conservative in committing to how many books I can read. I'm usually comfortable committing to 2 or 3 books initially.

I plan additional books to have ready to read as time allows. That way, I don't over-commit myself - but I am always trying to best my previous toppler contributions. Last team toppler, I completed 6 books, my personal best. Not sure if I can beat that, but I can try!

message 45: by Kerri (new)

Kerri I've only ever been in one toppler before and I managed to read 6 books. I doubt I will be able to read that many this time, unless I can find really short ones. I was exhausted at the end of the last toppler, and really struggled to get through that last book. I think I will do the same as Tejas Janet, commit to 2 or 3, but have others at the ready.

message 46: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments This is my first toppler so I don't know how many books its prudent to commit reading. It depends on the length of the book. I hope to do at least 2.

Awww, Jaxnsmom, surely you won't penalize my team because I am displaying the early stages of Alzheimer's!
We all bow down to your greatness and creativity! No one runs a toppler like you! : )

Wow, I could have written this - only this is my 2nd team toppler and last time I read 5 (my personal record). But like you, I commit to about 3 books and hope to do more...
