SOLVED. Tribe that can Astral Project. There's a thunderstorm and those who can Astral Project are unable to return to their physical bodies. [s]

The book is about a tribe, some of whose members can Astral Project. These members are looked at as being Chosen by the tribes' Gods and Goddesses. The members who can Astral Project have to take a test to prove they can Astral Project. The test consists of Identifying people and objects hidden around or off the island.

There's a hurricane or thunderstorm early in the book and those who are Astral Projecting at the time are for some reason unable to return to their physical bodies. This was the major plot of the book I believe.

There's also a chapter about how the tribe swims through and underwater cave system while surrounded by a group of glowing fish (I believe these were Eels).

I read the book in 2011, and haven't been able to find the name or even a book similar to it since. Thanks for any help that may be given.

Solved. Thank you! That was the book. I saw the comment and went and checked the book out, and after a few chapters I realized that was the book! It's one of my favorites.

Also, sorry for not responding earlier. I actually forgot about this a few days after getting the book. Thanks again!
