Questions?

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Hi! I assume we’ll be able to view the tracking sheet when the challenge officially begins? It’s still locked, so I’m making sure that’s not just me somehow :)

Hey Alysa! Thanks for pointing that out. I just fixed the privacy settings. Can you try again?

message 4: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments It opens fine now.
Thanks! I’m glad I asked 🙂

message 5: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments Can view, but will the mods be updating the sheet or is each player?

message 6: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments I kind of went back and forth on that. Let's say it would be great if players could update the tracking sheets with their picks and completion posts. However, if unable/ unfamiliar with editing the sheets, one of the mods will do it for them at the end of the round. No need to send us a message, we'll go over the incomplete rows and update them :)

Players should have edit permissions to "Round 1" tab now :)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments If this game goes well, maybe we should play a book version of Cards Against Humanity... but it would probably have to be in the Back Room, lol.

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments When we post our selected noun at end of week should we give any explanation to help our cause to win the week?

Nope, just the final pick would suffice :) Be creative and have fun!

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 328 comments Does a cozy mystery count as mystery?

message 14: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments Yeah! Any mystery will count. The tags needn’t be MPG

message 15: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 328 comments And what if the book is so new, it doesn't have any tags yet? I was thinking about reading
The Deadly Dust Bunnies.

⚚♆ Cynthia ♆⚚ | 481 comments Hello! Is there a minimum of people that need to tag the book as Mystery/ Thriller/ Suspense?

message 17: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments No, even a single tag will count

Oops sorry! Missed that comment - Unfortunately, that book won't work.

message 20: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments Just double checking the "/" is equivalent to an or? So any one of the tags is fine and it doesn't need all three.

Oke, I'll look for another. Thanks.

message 22: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments @Plethora, haha yes! The slash is an “or”

message 26: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 22 comments Do we have to do a selection and completion post or just a completion is enough?

message 27: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments Just a completion :)

message 28: by kirsty gray (new)

kirsty gray (kirstygray) | 174 comments What does completion post have to say, just yhe title and that its completed as well as the nouns that youve chosen? :-)

I have a sample here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 30: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Do books need to be started after the theme is announced or can you use a book that is started a few days before the theme is announced as long as it fits the theme and is finished on time? For example, if I start a book on a Wednesday or Thursday and a fitting theme is announced Friday. I am not referring to books finished before the theme is announced, just started.

message 31: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments We’ll allow it. Books can be started before a round begins but must be finished after

message 32: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Thank you!

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 441 comments Can we still sign up?

message 34: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments Hmm, technically the first round started last Friday. We’ll accept your sign up as long as you can finish your book and post your completion on time (Wednesday 3PM EST). Let me know what you decide and I’ll add you to the tracking sheet :)

message 35: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments The rules say you'll post an adjective on Wednesday. Do we need to do something with the adjective?

message 36: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments Vicki wrote: "The rules say you'll post an adjective on Wednesday. Do we need to do something with the adjective?"

Hi Vicki! Yes, you'd have to choose the best-fitting noun (in your opinion) from the initial 5 you picked.

This post has more details - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 37: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 03, 2020 04:52PM) (new)

Can we include an adjective to modify our noun, such as "lewd jokes," "WWI veteran," or "psychology professor," from the precis? Or just the noun itself?

message 38: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments Just the noun :)

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Aiswrya wrote: "Just the noun :)"

I figured but it was worth a shot at adding some more humor. LOL! Thanks!

message 40: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 22 comments Will the adjective have anything to do with the round theme or is it at random?

message 41: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1213 comments It’ll be random

message 43: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments So maybe a dumb question, but when choosing our words, do how they are used count? For instance, 'security' is a normally a noun but in my book precis, it is used as an adjective as in 'security specialitst'.... so could I use it as a noun word this week?

No, the word you pick must fit in context. The usage of word must be as a noun. For example, "American" will be allowed by itself but if the tag is "American food", you can use "food" but not "American" or "American food".

In this case, you can use "specialist" but not "security specialist" or "security".

Well, if you can't decide you can always make wheel decide or throw a coin or something. :-)

Or you can let the participants help you?! Let everyone pick their 2 favourites (of course not their own) and count till you have a winner.
