Kim decides to bring the entire team to the scene of their first murder case. Was that a good move at the time? Why or why not?

For Kim, I think it was the only option. She had to see how they would each react to the murder as well as to each other. It also gave her the chance to skip the programmed "team building" which I think would have been a waste of time for this particular team.

Is this normal police procedure to bring the whole team, I don't know?

It doesn't happen on "Vera" the TV show, which is what this style of book reminded me of.

But I guess all of them there allowed Kim to see how they handled the initial investigation and how they interacted as a team.

It was considered odd to bring the whole team, by Kim’s own admission but since they got the call literally minutes after first introductions, it was a smart move. What better way to assess skills than live in the field? Kim got the chance to see their strengths in the moment.

I agree that she didn't have much choice, and I did not see her as a team-building type of leader either!

It isn't normal but it worked for Kim. She knew many of her teams strengths and weakness by this initial performance. I love the way she put the team to work after leaving the scene.

With the early call, it was kinda forced on her. Added bonus: assessing her new team in action.

It was a smart call on Kim's part. She can see the strengths and weaknesses of her team in the field.
