Joanna Finally, I'm starting a thread where members can request to do a buddy read with other members! Elligible books must be by American authors and published prior to 1920. Of course, there must be 2 or more participants for the buddy read to be set up. Please let us know what you'd like to read and when, and I can set up a thread for it anytime! 😊

I'm beginning to think I really got a deal on my copy! 🤣 It's an edition from the 1860s, illustrated, hardcover, good condition, and I think I paid around $7.00 for it!

Joanna Well, I won't pressure you, if you don't want to read it online. I don't like reading online either, especially with a long book like this...and Cooper isn't always easy reading! 😄 I just thought maybe you had a kindle or some other sort of e-reader (I really have no idea what I'm talking about! 😂) that might work.

It's also good to look out for the shipping price. If the shipping is higher than the actual price of the item, then there's a chance you're going to get scammed. Meaning that if you buy the item, and want to return it, all you get back is 99 cents. You have to pay shipping.

Yes, that is very true! I honestly don't really buy books or anything that I have to pay shipping for. I always look for free shipping. 😂

Well, a shipping price is fine, as long as it's not too high...but I always look out if it's higher than the asking price!

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 14 comments So...I left my copy behind at my dad's house in Georgia...ugh. I haven't read Cooper in a very long time.

Emma | meadowroselibrary Oh, thank you, Meggy!! I'm a horrible shopper, internet browser, and I couldn't find it!! 🙈🤣

message 37: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 14 comments Anyway, many copies are in two volumes, so make sure you order the whole thing.

Here's a pdf copy that you can read on any tablet, computer, or smartphone.

No...I haven't read it. I got several old volumes of his that had three books each in the binding and that's one of them.

Oh my, that's a beauty! I was at a rare book store last week and they had a complete set of Cooper's works...it might have been the same as this. I wanted it so bad, but then I wanted half the books in that store! 😄

Jasmine Shadows (jasmineshadows) | 33 comments Hello everyone.
I am sorry that I have been pretty much absent for quite some time. Unfortunately, I will not be able to interact for a time. I am overwhelmed with the care of my mother, and my family is relocating into our new home and shop, Sort of anyway. That is a long store that I will not bore you with here. However, we are also going to be without the internet for a time, and I am not sure at this point how long that will be. As of next Monday we will be off line. So happy reading wishes to everyone, and hopefully I will be able to come back soon.

This certainly sounds like an interesting read! I would like to, provided that our library is still open by then. Maybe some of our other members will join in as well. It sounds like a great book for discussion!
