About 10 years ago (2010) or even earlier I've read a book that did not seem recent.
It was about a man who one day woke up being one of the chosen ones, the ones that lived in the city. Unfortunately, years ago all changed. Now the changed people are no longer like gods living there, they are like zombies. The slightest scratch will never heal, nothing will.
