Cheryl (cherylllr) The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson is a pretty popular 'classic,; a relatively short horror novel from 1959. I'll try to read it, esp. as one of my other groups is also reading it this month. ;)

Jackson is the author of another well-known book that one of my sons just read and suggested that I try, as it's not as horrifying (he says), We Have Always Lived in the Castle.

I have read, and you probably have too, her short story The Lottery. If it doesn't ring a bell, *don't* read a blurb, just go read the story. It's in lots of school and popular anthologies for good reason. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&am...

Ralph McEwen | 22 comments I have downloaded the audiobook. The narrator is Bernadette Dunne.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Hope you enjoy it!

So, do you know the short story? Don't say anything spoilery, but do you expect that the author can write a novel as effective?

Ralph McEwen | 22 comments I am finding the narration very enjoyable. The story is well done, the setup and character development is pretty tight and interesting. I have read the Lottery and found it a good story also.
