Recursion starts out with people experiencing a mysterious syndrome where they start having false memories that feel real to them. As the book continues, the reader finds out the mystery of what is causing the false memories and how that is affecting the world and what should, if anything be done about it. I am trying to be vague on purpose because I don't want to spoil the roller coaster ride of this book.
I thought this book was very well done. I really don't like books like this one when they are not done well because I don't like being confused and not understanding what is going on. I did not have that problem with Recursion. I loved all the characters and found the plot fascinating rather than confusing. The author does a very good job keeping potentially confusing explanations understandable. He doesn't over explain the science. I am sure there are tons of reasons why things couldn't happen and plenty of plot holes in the explanations and lack of them, but I didn't care. I found it interesting pondering the implications of the "what if" scenario that the book presents and I am glad that I finally got around to reading it.
