Chapter 10 (view spoiler)[ action is picking up a little more. Which is helping th story move along. A little confusing at times on what is going on but after a few rereads of sections its goo. Liking the characters.

Chapter 20 (view spoiler)[ I love when a book started to really make sense and things are starting to work out. Hazel has changed a lot over the last few chapters and I started to like her.

Chapter 12 (view spoiler)[So far I'm getting this slightly confused with Cruel Prince, what with the two definitely fae stories.

I couldn't believe she would actually make that bargain with the Alder King when she was 10 for her brother, and still keep it a secret. And that her brother hates it because of what it does to people. That's so scary! At least now we know why she goes around kissing everyone. I don't like her as a character though.

I wonder what this Severen dude is going to do to the town. Wonder why he kissed her And of course there's bloody useless cops.

Like her finding about her mother's drawings. I didn't realise it was her who went and drew the Queen, and who cursed/blessed her son. (hide spoiler)]

Got a little bit confused because I was so close to DNFing, but I'm going to hold on, as it'll get us 8 points

I was enjoying this initially but it is definitely starting to drag for me. I'm interested enough to keep going but I'm really having to push myself right now. (view spoiler)[It has just been discovered that the horned boy is no longer in his coffin and Ben and Hazel are currently trying to find him. I'm definitely enjoying the parts that are taking place currently more than the backstory that is being provided right now. (hide spoiler)]
I do plan to try and push through and finish this over the weekend though!

Based on the synopsis, I really thought I'd be enjoying it more. It's pretty disappointing. Hoping it will pick up though!

Finished. Review: That was interesting. I was definitely more invested in the story after noticing the cameo of this book in Cruel Prince. Severin (and Hazel and Ben too I believe) were characters in that book.
I have to say, this book didn't grip me as much as I wanted it to. Something about it didn't connect with me, didn't make me want to keep reading. Maybe it's just the time I'm reading it, knowing that I'm behind on my other buddy reads, but it disappointed me. I am really pleased with how (view spoiler)[Hazel and Jack ended up together, and how Severin and Ben did <3 I just assumed it would be Severin and Hazel. (hide spoiler)] Hazel sacrificed so much of herself for (view spoiler)[Ben, which I thought was amazing. (hide spoiler)] Pleased to have this one done.

I really enjoyed the last 1/3 of this but I had a very hard time getting through most of the book. I never formed any real attachment to any of the characters, I just felt neutral towards them. I was, however, satisfied with the ending. Same. It wasn't a heart stopping book for sure. But it did throw some twists that made it just interesting enough to continue. :)

I agree that it's dragging a bit. I'm interested enough to keep going and find out what happens, but at the same time I wouldn't be incredibly upset if I didn't. Chapter 12 - I'm confused and I think it's because I haven't really attached to this book so I semi-zone out at times. It's alright, but IDK. I'm not liking it like I thought that I would. I just haven't connected to Ben or Hazel or anyone. Usually, that doesn't really matter for me, but I don't know.
