Hi everyone! This is my first challenge and I am super excited to be on team with everyone. I did a little snooping in other team threads and reserved some posts to track things. A Little About Me
My name is Kitty, 30, and I live in Los Angeles, CA (GMT – 7). I am a newly wed (just got married end of last year). I work full time as a tax accountant so I love organizing and tracking things haha.
Since I’ve been working from home during the pandemic, I have saved a lot of time not being stuck in the pesky LA traffic and converting that time to reading. Besides reading, I really enjoy working out (HIIT classes, running) and cooking even though I'm not great at it.
I am open to reading all genres, but I’ve been gravitating lately towards contemporary and YA. Excited to expand my reading horizons with this challenge.

Hello Team,My name is Katelyn and I am 25 born April 1995. I live in Columbus, OH and I have been here my entire life, This makes me on Eastern Standard Time. I work in a library and have since I was 17, so I love talking books! I don't get to read as much since going full time, but I am hoping this challenge will motivate me more.
I am now getting into some audio books to listen to on my drive to work, so that helps. I mostly read contemporary YA/NA/romance. There are a few books outside of those that I would like to attempt.
This is only my second challenge on here. I am currently doing the PtP as well.

Hey Kitty!
First of all, congratulations on your wedding. And I appreciate you for being proactive to involve us all.
And I am in the same boat as you. I am so new to GoodReads and to a challenge. I have got little to no ideas about it.
The pandemic really help me to cultivate my time in reading too. Nice to meet you, Kitty!

Hey Katelyn!
Working in a library is like a fantasy dream for me.
I have never been in any challenge. I am brand new to this. And I am eager to spend my time with you all :)
As for me,My name is Jans and my DOB is Oct 1992.
I live in Bangalore, India. And I fall under Indian Standard Time.
I work for a Networking based software company here in Bangalore.
I have been an avid reader, from my childhood, but most of the books I have read were in my native tongue. And English is my second language.
Somewhere due to work and life itself, I couldn't invest my time in reading but this pandemic has given me a lot of time, just like what Kitty said, and with no traffic, I have been so rejoiced to pick up new and interesting books to read. I have no restrictions on any genre but I love medieval fantasy a lot.
I have been to two buddy reads and that's it. This is my first challenge and I am eager to interact with you all and know all your perspectives.

Hi team,I am 32, born in July. I live in Columbus, Indiana. I’m Eastern time zone, same as Katelyn. I’m a relative recent transplant to the Midwest, I was born in Florida and lived a few years in Honduras.
I work as an engineer, but secretly wish I had Katelyn’s job at the library. I have always loved to read but the pandemic made me decided to start tracking what I read, and start reading books outside my comfort Zone.
I’m a bit relieved I’m not the only newbie to challenges here.
It is so weird, your reading time increased since you aren't commuting - mine has decreased! I mostly listen to audiobooks and my lengthy drive into town made up the bulk of my reading time!Jans, please remove the date from your birthday info - just leave the month and year. (Or remove it all unless needed.) This is an open group and anyone can see the posts. It is better to be safe than sorry. 😊
MountainKat wrote: "It is so weird, your reading time increased since you aren't commuting - mine has decreased! I mostly listen to audiobooks and my lengthy drive into town made up the bulk of my reading time!Jans,..."
Right! What’s the most ironic for me is that the pandemic actually made me start listening to audiobooks. I started cooking more and It was nice to have some background noise.

Thanks Kat! I wasn't aware. Thanks for the heads up.
Interesting that we are all facing different situations. I am discovering so many things in this pandemic. Recently I even started messing up with art. Some years back I couldn't even draw a proper rose petal. Lol

As I'm trying to answer these questions, I have realized I need a spreadsheet and possibly a dual monitor. LOL
Hayde wrote: "Busy Right Meow wrote: "Here are some initial tasks that we should probably start thinking about/agreeing on. Tasks:

Yep, I feel the same. :)
I volunteered in the library from 2007 til I got hired on in 2012 and have been there ever since. Of course my degree has nothing to do with the library, but I have always loved books. The pandemic has definitely made my job hard especially because I can't really do my job from home. We are finally starting to get into the swing of things , but it won't be the same for a while.
Nice to meet everyone! I find it really hard to do audiobooks for some reason. I feel like my mind just starts wandering and I am like...wait what just happened. LOLKatelyn, my job throughout college was working in my college library as an interlibrary loan assistant. Hopefully, the changes in your job are manageable and keeping you safe!
I know what you mean, Kitty. My mind wanders as well. So far I have only listened to re-reads. If my mind wanders for a minute, I at least know what's going on. @Katelyn, I greatly appreciate the work librarians are doing. My local library has a nice step for curbside pickup and new ebooks are continuously getting pushed.
Hayde wrote: "Does anyone know what is the difference between task 1 and 51?"Not sure, I just assumed whoever we didn't end up using for #1, we can use for #51. We'll probably get more guidance when the actual task is assigned as well.

The difference between tasks 1 and 51, is that in task 51 you all have to read a DIFFERENT book by the same author. So you have to pick an author and then make sure you each select a different book. 😊
Update: Revised my responses based on Jans' input as well. Just working off of Katelyn's responses for the questions since it's probably easier to narrow down. For the years/dates, I have no preference and I just randomly picked of the ones Katelyn gave. I don't have a preference at all if someone feels strongly. (I did use a dual monitor to write these hahaha)
1. From Katelyn's List: Sawyer Bennett, Kendall Ryan
My Suggestion: Lauren Blakely
From Jans' List: Fine with all three, but I know Katelyn isn't super into Fantasy so TJ Kune might be hard for her?
9. Fine with Temptation Saga by Helen Hardt as well
27. 2017
29. Athlete (not sure if we need to narrow down to sport?) or Rockstar
33. Contemporary
49.April 2018
50. No preference
51. Whoever we didn't do from Task 1?
52. Blue

70. Contemporary
71. Team 16
72. 90’s
73. Whoever we didn't do from #1 and #51

82. Fine with everything that Katelyn listed:
Hope Falls (Shawn), Shacking Up (Hunting), Love in Bloom (Foster), Neighbor from Hell (Mathewson), Sterling Shore (Owens), Harris Brothers (Daws), Temptation Saga (Hardt), Hope (Burton), Montgomery Ink (Ryan), Arizona Vengeance (Bennett)

51. Whatever is left from #1.
52. Either Pink or Blue
53. Can I say JINX to Kitty? I had type pretty much the same thing she said...
I think Kitty's location of Los Angeles would be easiest to find books on. I would be interested in reading one based in India as well.
54. Either is fine

72. I vote 90's.
73. Same as #1

76. No preference. (I was laughing so hard when I read abs on Katelyn's list. I want to pick that one just for that.) Hat would work for me too.

That's a long period, Katelyn. I assume your life is filled with more books. Hope the work place is safe at this tiring time, for you.@Hayde : I would also love to do a Harry Potter. Not sure if it qualifies.
We have completed out list. May be we can finalize. Anything the team decides would be okay for me.
Thanks for filling out the list so quickly everyone! I feel like we're really prepared for the task assignment tomorrow. I updated Post 12 for the selections (in bold) based on everyone's responses. For the tasks where we still had multiple options, I just picked something at random. For the author/series selections, I tried to pick one from each person's list in the different tasks so hopefully we will be able to cover them all and no one feels left out. Let me know if something jumps out as a hard no or you want to rediscuss with the team. We can also change when the task is assigned if someone feels strongly about something but at least we have a good baseline.
For #9 can we switch the series and do temptation saga for #82 and do Big Rock for #9? I just realized I had already read the first one in the Temptation Saga series.
Sure! Just updated. Also I noticed some teams changed their team names. I am fine with team 17 but just wanted to let people know the option is there. I am terrible with team names. The only thing I can think of is Bookin' It.
So it definitely isn't every book I have loved, but I put together a shelf of recommendations for task 12 about reading a book recommended by a teammate.https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
We are getting close! I want to start reading something, but I know I wouldn't be able to finish it before the 1st prompt reveal.
I have a general idea for books for the tasks. And same! I just finished my current book this morning and just opted to wait till TAR before I start a new book. Ready to get my reading on!
Tasks is Up!Task 1 for all teams!
0. As a team select your favorite month of 2019 (because 2020 basically SUCKS!) and each player reads a book initially published in that month. No pass for this task.
For this task we are using the initial publication date. If one is listed at the top of the editions page, use that. Otherwise I will be looking for the first published date of an English language edition. Remember to use the first English language Kindle edition for your page count and ensure that your completion posts contain all the required information listed in message #3 of your team thread.
Current Preference is November 2019.
Nov 2019 Most Anticipated Romances List
Nov 2019 Most Popular Books
If possible, could we do November? I had picked a book for another challenge that has to be November 2019. If everyone else wants April, that's fine too. I will just make sure to get our book done first.
