PUZZLE 8: ON THE MENU
Titles will contain a word relating to food or drink.

message 152: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I have an idea for the next puzzle but I'll see what you all think.

I started a new audio book last night which I'm liking more than my other one and it is 6 hours so I'm going to focus on it today. I'll add my first hour hour to the spreadsheet.

Maybe our first guess should be "N" though we have been having luck with "W"

message 153: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I just noticed that we are close to the page count. I might be able to get 30 pages read this morning before I have to be productive.

message 154: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I just added my page count from yesterday, we need 14 more to get a guess.

message 155: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I will read 14 pages and then take my dog for a walk.

message 156: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I was able to get 14 pages read despite several interruptions : )

We now have a guess, I'd vote for N but if someone has a different letter to try first that sounds good to me.

message 157: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1143 comments I just added 84 pages from yesterday, so that should get over the page count.

message 158: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I can't find the details, we can't guess T, S, or R, right? N is as good a guess as any, I agree we've had good luck with W too. Or H, assuming the first word is THE.

message 159: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments The only title I have found so far that fits is The Water Knife. I've tried other food/drink words apple, juice, peach, lemon, candy, cakes but I'm having trouble getting the third word to just have 5 letters.

message 160: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I'm going to go ahead and guess N.

message 161: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments My title is wrong, I did not think that was it but luckily we have an N in the puzzle,

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I read 93 pages last night. I'll add them for now and then add more later. I can finish that book today.

I cannot imagine the amount of hours it took for Emily to create all these puzzles, set up the threads and monitor the game!

message 163: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I found another book that would work The Sugar Queen

message 164: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
Haha Robin, I am DEFINITELY spending more time on Goodreads than actually reading during this Read-a-Thon, but it's all fun!

message 165: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments It looks like we need just 30 more minutes of an audio book for our next pick. I'm listening to my book right now so I'll be back so to add the 30 minutes. What letter do you all want to guess next?

message 166: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I think The Sugar Queen is a pretty good guess so how about G?

message 167: by Robin P, Orbicular Mod (last edited Sep 17, 2020 03:13PM) (new)

Robin P | 3964 comments Mod
I just added 1 hour audiobook time for today.

message 168: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I will go ahead and guess G

Robin P | 3964 comments Mod
I finished the book For Rent-One Pedestal (a book written during the suffrage movement, surprisingly entertaining) and added it as well as the extra pages.

message 170: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments Robin, that sounds interesting.

I'll finish my audio book tomorrow. I'm going to switch over to reading my hardback book.

I read it on my computer, I don’t know if there’s any print edition. It is only 134 pages and the pages are small.

I also finished Marrying The Royal Marine. I will update the spreadsheet.

message 172: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I updated the pages I have read so far today. I'll probably read a bit more but I'm pretty tired so I don't think I read too much more.

message 173: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I finished Those People. We now have another guess, so I'm going to go ahead and guess Q.

message 174: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1143 comments With that G, The Sugar Queen sure looks like it is that answer. With the letter restrictions, there are only two letters we can guess that fit for it.

message 175: by SarahKat (new)

SarahKat I just finished 2 books, my audio and my ebook. The Architect's Apprentice and Last Chance to See

That gives us another guess. I'll go guess the H.

message 176: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I went ahead and posted the guess The Sugar Queen

PUZZLE 9: PERSON
Book titles in this category contain someone's first and/or last name.

message 178: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments We have one guess available, anyone want to take a stab at it?

message 179: by Robin P, Orbicular Mod (new)

Robin P | 3964 comments Mod
Way too many options, we could guess N or M?

message 180: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I guessed N to get the ball rolling.

message 181: by Robin P, Orbicular Mod (new)

Robin P | 3964 comments Mod
Thanks, it turned out there wasn't one.

message 182: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments Even though there was no N it will rule out several words which will be helpful.

message 183: by Nancy (last edited Sep 18, 2020 10:35AM) (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I feel like there aren't that many names with 6 letters....

Some ideas:

Stuart Little
Julius Ceasar

I had a couple of others but realized they had an N.

message 184: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments Nancy, those are the 2 titles I have found so far too. So, I'm thinking L would be a good guess once we earn a guess.

message 185: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments Agreed. Now we need to get reading! If only work didn't get in the way. :) I have 2 hours left in my audio so will finish that today but not until later.

message 186: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I have read 87 pages so far so I went ahead and added them to the spreadsheet though we still need over 600 pages for a guess. I have between 3-4 hours left of my audio book but I won't get to it until later today. I'm hoping to finish it tonight.

message 187: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I added the 2 hours I've listened to so far today and we get another guess, so I'm going with L.

message 188: by Robin P, Orbicular Mod (new)

Robin P | 3964 comments Mod
I finished another book and added it, so that should give us one more guess. Let's see if L is right and go from there.

message 189: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments There is no L hmm...I found Muggie Maggie (but I don’t think that is it. I’m close to finishing my audio book.

message 190: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I'm stumped.

message 191: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
(I'm taking a bit of pleasure in the fact that I've finally stumped y'all on a puzzle lol)

message 192: by Jillian (new)

message 193: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments Now to finish the last 20 minutes of my book : )

message 194: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments I've seen it as Madam Bovary so didn't think that was it, but maybe there are different spellings.

message 195: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments GR is showing the title's without e as adaptations. It is not a book I have even read.

I just finished my book and added.
Do we want to guess M

message 196: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments Go for it.

message 197: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments I posted it, I'm not sure if Emily is still on or not.

message 198: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1143 comments I added my 163 pages so far today. Sorry I haven't finished any books in the last few days. I should finish On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous tonight or tomorrow morning. I made the "mistake" of starting The Great Offshore Grounds which is almost a doorstopper but oh so good. I doubt I will finish it during this read-a-thon, but it is contributing a lot of pages. This team is really rocking it.

message 199: by Robin P, Orbicular Mod (new)

Robin P | 3964 comments Mod
Madame Bovary is the most common spelling so that might be it. Great work, everyone!

message 200: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2879 comments Edie, that is fine you have not finished any books the last few days. My personal rule is that you should read books you want. One read-a-thon I read several books just for the challenge and I did not like them so I don’t do that anymore. Also, I decided to start a door stop last Saturday so we are in good company.
