Double WOW!

Very kind, Ben.

I'm sure all these verified purchase reviews are going to be appreciated, but just a reminder that you DO NOT have to buy the books. Not everyone is in the same circumstances as everyone else, especially right now. Feel free to PM those you are reviewing for PDF or MOBI copies.

Thanks again to everyone for your kindness and understanding.

Goodness!! That has to be a record. I don't think I've ever had someone pop up a review on the same day a round started.

Thanks, Phillip.

Ben Haskett | 153 comments Holy smokes, Phillip, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the kind words. I'm curious about your comment regarding double spaces—is that passé in literature or something? I work for an appellate court, and so I've been trained to do that for letters and orders, but maybe that's too formal?

Hey Ben, I was raised 'old school' with the two spaces after a period too. That was because back in the old days (yes, I'm that old) typewriters and wordprocessors gave the same amount of space to an i as they did a w - not the case with modern computers and software. So we needed a double space after a period to give the end of a sentence more white space than a single space between any such letters.

Oh I found some techno speak
"In typography, kerning is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result. Kerning adjusts the space between individual letter forms, while tracking (letter-spacing) adjusts spacing uniformly over a range of characters."

While I have kicked the double space habit, I am still old school enough that I justify my text for my books - I find it hard to read books that aren't, though many are produced this way now.

You can easy do a find and replace if you want to edit it. Let me know if you need help with that.

Hope that helps.

Trish

Ben Haskett | 153 comments Haha, Ed, I could almost copy/paste my comment to Phillip! I appreciate the kind words.

I feel bad, y'all! Three out of four reviews have already been posted for my book, and I haven't even started my round yet!

message 62: by Ed (new)

Ed Morawski It was a great read, Ben

One more PSA for you all.

Do not panic if you see some people read quickly and pop several reviews up before you've read even one book. We all read at different speeds (slow reader here) and as long as you get all the books read and reviews done within the dates in the details from E.M. yesterday I will not be on your case! LOL

I will be here with you to the bitter end.

Thanks for listening.

Trish
PS Ben - this also applies to you getting 3 quick reviews - obviously everyone decided to get your book done first as it's a short one. Congrats on the praise!

Ed Morawski Thanks Phillip. Happy you liked (most of) it.

Ben Haskett | 153 comments Trish! I thought I'd responded to you, but I guess not? Sorry about that. Thanks for the context about double spacing. It'll be hard to phase it half-way out since I'll still have to do it at work... hmm... maybe I'll just keep doing it, lol. I'll be old fashioned!

Further, I think you're right about my short story getting knocked out of the way first -- works for me! :D

I hear that. It has it's use, but not with epic/world changing events. Although, I think our opinion is in the minority. Regardless, it's one of the great things of being an indie author, I can cater to my number 1 fan (me).

Agreed, Phillip.

We can never please everyone, so we should make sure we please ourselves with our work!
