Kim | 68 comments Same thoughts here, which why I was nettled when I saw we had “ube” and “watermelon.” What good dystopian storyline will include these?! Here I go again, outside my TBR for a reading challenge...

CB (cb33) | 404 comments So does “legume” specificially have to be spelled out and/or used in the recipe title, or do you think it could be a type of legume? Chickpea, lentil, etc. I only ask because I have never seen “legume” used in recipe titles before, usually only the specific type, so was curious as to the groups thoughts. I’ve spelled out “lentil” one time but didn’t want to go too far down that road if it doesn’t help us.

I'm not sure about that. I assumed it was those specific words since each score group got 3 words.

message 204: by Kim (new)

Kim | 68 comments I also thought specific or spell it out? But not alternatives.

Kim | 68 comments I finished the BOM and DQ posts. where do I put this info on the spreadsheet so we get credit?

I can't find where in the spreadsheet you'd put it but according to this post here you should just have to message the mod when we get out customers.

Jenn | 209 comments Round 2 ends Saturday November 14, 9pm UTC Time. So we have roughly 8 more days to finalize our meals.

message 208: by Kim (new)

Kim | 68 comments i finished blood and honey; i have fish and vinegar up on the board if someone has potato/chips, salt or lemon to finish?

Your meal is finished :)

Kim | 68 comments I found “legume” in my book and felt a thrill of excitement. What has 2020 done to me haha

message 211: by Vian (new)

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments That is pretty exciting!

message 212: by Kim (new)

Kim | 68 comments Watermelon in the same book. Winner winner chicken dinner!

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments I'm finally nearing the finish line of The Goldfinch and I'm looking over what food options I have.

There are a number of desserts and drinks in the book. Looking at our numbers, we don't have alot of desserts, but it looks like we have a good number of drinks, both alcoholic and non. Should I make alot of dessert or drink meals or should I break it up. What do we still need more of?

Also I have a book that I'm thinking about starting, but we only have 2 slots left for this round. Has anyone else started something not listed?

message 215: by CB (last edited Nov 12, 2020 05:05PM) (new)

CB (cb33) | 404 comments Hi Vianvamp - not me, please go ahead and start a new book you’d like to read and add.

As to your other question, the only thing we do look to be a little short on is desserts. I’m going to add a fish/chips in my spellouts, a salad, and a pasta.

Of course Jenn has done this before so she may have better insight.

message 216: by Jenn (last edited Nov 12, 2020 05:44PM) (new)

Jenn | 209 comments Looking at our meals, I'm thinking we're low on teenager options again. We had more frozen meals and desserts last round than we do now, but it wasn't enough to feed all the teenagers. So if you could do a lot of desserts, that'll probably be the most helpful thing.

I don't have an unlisted book either so I think you'll be fine taking one of the free slots. Just remember that you only have tomorrow and a few hours on Saturday to finish it.

Round 2 ends on the Saturday the 14th at 9pm UTC time or:

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments Cool, cool. I'll work on adding desserts/teen options then.

I powered through the previous book so unless this book is awful a day should be plenty.

Thank you!

Kim | 68 comments Thank you Jenn!

message 224: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 209 comments CB, are you gonna need scavenger items or spell it out items to help with the 2 books you're working on? If not, I'll just use up the stuff on the food items spreadsheet.

message 225: by CB (new)

CB (cb33) | 404 comments Hi Jenn - the book I’m reading will end up being a Spellout. Between the spellout options in this and my other book, I have plenty of options to create several meals. So please go ahead and use up the items on the food items spreadsheet - thanks!

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments We made it to round 3!

Has anyone taken a look at our customers?

Jenn | 209 comments Vianvamp wrote: "We made it to round 3!

Yes, we're 10 meals shy but at least we got close. I'm very impressed considering we're down to four people. And of course we got lots of teenagers lol!

Anyone who did the BOM can message the mod to swap customers too but we should probably assign meals first to see which group we need more of. Does anyone want to do the meals?

message 228: by Kim (new)

Kim | 68 comments Jenn you did it last time so if you want to crush it like last round go for it. If you want a break, I’m off today so I can start playing around with it.

Anyone else do BOM?

message 229: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 209 comments Today's actually a busy day for me so if you can do it Kim that'll be great.

message 230: by Vian (new)

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments I did the BOM (Truly Devious) from October. I posted the questions further up thread.

Kim do you want help with the meals?

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments Jenn wrote: " Yes, we're 10 meals shy but at least we got close."

We got really close! Lol, of course we got a lot of teenagers, the category we had the least of. Atleast we got some of the reviewer words/BOM to bring in some more adults.

message 232: by CB (new)

CB (cb33) | 404 comments Yes, I think we did great!

Just a note, I did not have a BOM.

I too am happy to help with the meals if needed. I just checked, and we have 48 hours from the time Round 2 ended to complete the meals, so that would be by 4pm ET on Monday.

So sorry team!

Jenn | 209 comments Kim wrote: So sorry team!"

It's okay Kim, I got on before the time was up yesterday and did it real quick :)

I was able to distribute the meals between all the customers so there wasn't any need to use the BOMs this time around. And with round 1 having 160 customers and round 2 having 220, that's an increase of 60 customers. So for round 3, I'm thinking we try to aim for 280 meals. Does that sound about right with everyone?

message 235: by Vian (new)

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments Kim wrote: So sorry team!"

I didn't even know, I checked the score sheet about an hour + before and the meals were all done.

I'm thinking we try to aim for 280 meals.
That sounds good to me.

CB (cb33) | 404 comments Sounds good to me! 👍

Jenn | 209 comments Google review score: 4.11 stars! (We tied in 2nd place for highest scores!)

Round 3 Additions

3.25-4.24 You're doing well and locals are still testing you out. It will take a bit more though to attract a broader base of customers.
Meals using books with the word "local", "neighbourhood / neighborhood", or "quality" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3

So if we find "quality", our spell-it-out meals would look like this:

E - Elena and quality p.84
G - George
G - Gerald

Or like this as scavenger for a Pasta meal:

Noodles p.4 and quality p.84
chicken p. 16
cream p. 55

They don't count for the min/max. So for a 160+ book that gives 4 ingredients and you also find "quality", you can still use the book 4 times plus "quality".

If you find a word 5 times in a book and you can find a way to use it for 5 different meals, then you can use it for those 5 meals.

Kim | 68 comments I’m really glad I got this team! It’s my first time on this challenge and everyone is so positive. Thanks y’all!

message 248: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 209 comments Nice Kim! I have to usually mix and match books to get fish and chips with vinegar. You missed "salt" with you meal though, but I added it with one of my books.

fish and chips (fish, or any types of fish, potato, salt, lemon) Note for scavenger hunt only: Must contain all these items (4), add vinegar for bonus points.

message 249: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 209 comments The mods have said in the Kitchen Prep thread to put the google words in the "justification" column, not the "word being spelled or scavenged" column.

Sorry, I should have made a note of this sooner >.< I would go through the spreadsheet and clean it up myself but I don't want to mix up the page numbers. So if everyone could go through and make sure their meals are good, that'd be great.
